People don't understand that they want to win, not entertain you.
#139 to #85 - uvqdkh (01/26/2013) [-]
They're professional athletes. You can say "oh they do it for the love of the sport", but the reason that people watch/go to games is to be entertained. Sure, they want to win, but pro athletes are really just entertainers.

User avatar #67 to #66 - reican (01/26/2013) [-]
about how much pain an average football player can handle.
User avatar #68 to #67 - charagrin ONLINE (01/26/2013) [-]
Right, i got that. but what about what actually happened in the video. he was touched on the ear and collapsed in pain. as he injured from something else and the ref accidentally hit it? or did the ref cut him or something?
User avatar #71 to #68 - malhaloc (01/26/2013) [-]
Its an example of how...ahem "professional" soccer/futbol players do more acting than playing. They do everything they can to get penalties thrown at the opposing team.

I don't know, I feel like ******** football would just be painful to watch. I don't know much about it, but I doubt they choose players based on athletic skill.
User avatar #242 to #72 - dawgfan (01/26/2013) [-]
Go to youtube and search for it
It's actually pretty insane
#59 - gibroner ONLINE (01/26/2013) [-]
this might be why soccer will never catch on in American we're used to watching our version of football where people get slammed into by lumbering giants going at full sprint and get right back up like nothing happened and professional soccer players pull this **** (pic unrelated)
#80 to #59 - pNeuro (01/26/2013) [-]
You wear large protective pads. Rugby players don't.
I can understand that if you didn't wear these pads and with the amount of contact within your sport it would be dangerous, but all I'm saying is..It's not hard to sprint at another person if you know your safety is guaranteed..
#143 to #80 - uvqdkh (01/26/2013) [-]
He never said anything about Rugby. He said Americans will never get into soccer. As someone who has played both, I don't think that either rugby or football is more brutal. Sure there aren't any pads, but guys (generally) tackle as opposed to the "trucking" that happens a lot in American football. That's just my opinion though.
User avatar #89 to #80 - sheepysquirrel (01/26/2013) [-]
I've been tackled in rugby matches by 6'3, 230lb behemoths, and in football matches by 5'8 130lb dudes and I'm 6'1, 240lb and the skinny ****** ****** me up worse.
It had nothing to do with padding really, people try harder when they aren't wearing any here because they know they can hit harder and quicker.
And I've played street football where ****** will dropkick you in the chest for the ball without any padding.
User avatar #88 to #80 - gibroner ONLINE (01/26/2013) [-]
um even in all those pads you are far from completely safe but still rugby is a crazy ass sport that cannot be denied
User avatar #63 to #59 - darkor (01/26/2013) [-]
Sorry, did you mean Rugby, the manliness sport on Earth?
#144 to #63 - uvqdkh (01/26/2013) [-]
MMA? Put two men in a cage, and see which one walks out with all of his limbs intact? Rugby is badass, but if we're just talking about hard hits with minimal padding, MMA is at the top of that food-chain.
User avatar #73 to #63 - pianoasis (01/26/2013) [-]

Half the pros are all ******* pussies
User avatar #100 to #48 - clasp ONLINE (01/26/2013) [-]
It's not half , there's usually like , meh 1 starter on each team maybe that dives constantly. Some teams with few more, but rarely is there 5/6 active divers.
#83 to #48 - anonymous (01/26/2013) [-]
I wouldn't say they're pussies, just trying to get any possible advantage over the other team by acting outrageously.
User avatar #49 to #48 - bonjangles (01/26/2013) [-]

If you watched for real, you wouldn't say half the pros are Pussies.

Maybe ~5 Players out of all the major Leagues have a diving problem.
