They're professional athletes. You can say "oh they do it for the love of the sport", but the reason that people watch/go to games is to be entertained. Sure, they want to win, but pro athletes are really just entertainers.

Its an example of how...ahem "professional" soccer/futbol players do more acting than playing. They do everything they can to get penalties thrown at the opposing team.

You wear large protective pads. Rugby players don't.
I can understand that if you didn't wear these pads and with the amount of contact within your sport it would be dangerous, but all I'm saying is..It's not hard to sprint at another person if you know your safety is guaranteed..

He never said anything about Rugby. He said Americans will never get into soccer. As someone who has played both, I don't think that either rugby or football is more brutal. Sure there aren't any pads, but guys (generally) tackle as opposed to the "trucking" that happens a lot in American football. That's just my opinion though.

I've been tackled in rugby matches by 6'3, 230lb behemoths, and in football matches by 5'8 130lb dudes and I'm 6'1, 240lb and the skinny niggas fucked me up worse.
It had nothing to do with padding really, people try harder when they aren't wearing any here because they know they can hit harder and quicker.
And I've played street football where niggas will dropkick you in the chest for the ball without any padding.

um even in all those pads you are far from completely safe but still rugby is a crazy ass sport that cannot be denied
