This is so fucked up. Waiters are paid under $3 an hour, and we use the tip system so that good waiters make more, bad waiters make less (some places make waiters split the tip and that just defeats the whole point). Unless your couldn't eat your meal you tip 20%, that's just how it works. I completely understand why she was angry, and I would have been to. Have you never exaggerated? I'm sure she wouldn't actually spit in someone's food, but honestly I wouldn't blame her if she did. You sir, are a humongous douchebag.

That was kind of a dick move getting her fired. She has the right to complain about a shitty tip in her personal life. (In before facebook doesn't count as personal life)
As a server who makes a whopping 2.23 an hour, busting your ass for someone who in return dick you over on tip will quickly fill you with an uncontrollable rage, usually followed by violent rants, and empty threats.

STFU. With a $5 tip, you'd be making $7.23 an hour, which is more than minimum wage in a lot of places. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure you'd be serving more than 1 table an hour which means even more money.
You are just a whiny entitled bitch who thinks they deserve more than they get. Be happy you even have a job. You make me sick.

Sorry my opinion makes you sick lol. Didn't realize I said I deserved a 50 dollar tip on every table. If I gave someone shit service, I wouldn't expect a huge tip. If I did everything above and beyond and was tipped extremely low, i'd be a lil frustrated. N like I said to anonymous number 1, some money is better than no money lol. 5 bucks on a $130 tip would suck, but it's 5 more then I walked in with, so go me lol.

If you agreed to work 2.23 an hour, you're a fucking dumbass.
Also, I don't see how serving $130 worth of food is much harder than serving $35 worth of food. Sure, they may have ordered more food, but once you give the food to them, you're back to just asking them if everything's okay.
Don't be a little bitch, if your pay sucks, leave.

Unless you're in Cali or a select few others states, you're not going to make minimum wage as a server. Also it can be harder, depending on how many people are at the table. A 2 top with 35 bucks worth of food is gonna be a lot easier than a 5 top with 130 bucks. More running around (refilling, drinks, clearing plates, boxing food, ect), more stuff to carry, all that jazz. N I'm not bitchin I know what I agreed to. Some money is better than no money.

Am I the only one that get bothered by the fact that this dumb chick was fired ? I mean : yeah, what she posted is dumb and mean. Also, telling on your FB page where you work AND what stupid thing you're planning to do at work is not the cleverest thing I've ever seen...
But still, wasn't OP's response a little bit too much ? It isn't illegal to say dumb and mean things. million people do it in every workplace in the world. For all that I know about, nothing proves the bitch really intended to actually do it (sorry i don't trust FB status)
But for all i know, OP got a poor dumbfuck fired just for fun and called it justice. By snitching. Anonymously.
Anus prepared for the red thumbs.

I understand that spit is not something i want in my food or face, but i don't think most of the people on this website are old enough to work, and therefore don't understand the level of shit that most waiters and waitresses put up with from customers and they also do not understand the generally accepted standards of tipping.
On a $138 bill, the generally accepted tip (at 15%) would be $20.70. A generally nice tip (20%) would be $27.60. Receiving a $5 tip turns out to be a tip rate of 3.62%, something similar to going to dinner and 90 cents as the tip.
So even though the waitresses facebook post was unprofessional, the 5 dollar tip and OP's mission to be an asshole are both unwarranted douchebag moves.
I initially thought OP was going to venture to the Chili's and pay her a large tip. Personally, it's something I would do.

"It isn't illegal to say dumb and mean things." That's very true, and that's probably why she was fired instead of going to jail.
Seriously though, my former manager lost his job just for saying on Facebook that people on foodstamps shouldn't be buying dozens of greeting cards with their leftover money. Business owners want to make their chains as welcoming as possible; it's not a perfect system, but it makes sense from the employer's perspective.

The thing is it's real easy to spit in someone's food, so if someone would even suggest that they would do that, I'd fire them immediately, it's fucking disgusting, and if she's the kinda person to go on facebook and post how she's so mad and how she'd do it, then I'm going to fire her, cause like I said, it's real easy to do without thought on the customers part.
Not to mention she got a tip, what does the price of the meal have to do with her? She just carries it, it doesn't suddenly make it more difficult work.
But for me the fact that in America the customer is expected to pay the workers salary is beyond me, they work there, they should get payed a fucking salary, not the low end shit they do get payed.

When you work for a company, you represent their name, saying things like that can hurt the rep of the company and cause customers to not want to go there, for example, if you went to mcdonalds and they told you they were licking your food...even if they werent, would you still pay and eat there? no

Minimum wage in America is around 8$/hour.
Most servers get around 4$/hour with tips
Assuming she served none else for that hour, she still made 9$/hour
That is minimum wage reached with only 1 customer.
She shouldn't be bitching and frankly, I do think she should be fired for that remark. Even if she was just talking out her ass, Its still no way for a server to act. Their are literally thousands of more people who would gladly take that job with a smile on there face.

Im getting real tired of people being fired for things on FB, If you have a bad day and want to vent about it on FB you should be allowed to without it being held against you. People make harmless threats like these everyday when they are mad and if you really take them seriously you're an idiot.
No, it doesn't work like that.
Facebook is not a diary, it is not a personal place to post stuff and expect it to be private.
It is public, anything put on Facebook belongs to facebook, as soon as you post something, expect it to be equivalent to saying it in a room with all the people you have on facebook there.

I never said it was private. Bitching on FB is exactly as you put it, but that doesnt make it right for you to be fired over something you complain about. Her being fired over that is like the police arresting you for assault because you threatened to beat someone up but never actually did.
So... complaining about your job during your off time is grounds for firing? I'm not being sarcastic, is it really?
