High school, just like every other stage in life, has as many positive elements to it as is does negative.

There are so many people who work who would love to go back to high school, where the workload and hours are less than many jobs, and where you're given the chance to and even encouraged to socialize with the people around you and form long term relationships, and given opportunities to learn new skills

On the other hand, there are kids who suffered at the hands of bullies and crappy teachers in high school, who would like nothing better than to go out into the real world and start working for themselves and mature through life experience

TLDR: High school, like everything else in life, is something which you just need to try and make the most out of, and if you do, hopefully it'll have a positive impact on your life.

I know I enjoyed high school, and It's definitely helped me in my later life

i went to public high school in New York...i was surrounded by ******* with no more than 70 IQ who couldn't even solve simple algebraic equations... i had 1 kid ask the teacher if the moon and the sun are the same thing he through the sun turns himself off at night and becomes the moon like a light bulb or something ... this happened in the 11th grade ..... i'll let that sink in a bit.

I'm in a special needs program at school because I have a very slight autism that makes it hard for me to understand things that anyone else would. But other than that I'm a normal, witty, somewhat rebelious teenager like anyone else. But because I'm in a special needs program, I'm constantly surrounded by ******* tards and teachers who're trained to deal with said tards, not kids with a slight autism. So every day I go home depressed and angry because the teachers can't get it threw their heads that I can't be around ADHD kids all the time because of my anxiety. So now for several months I've been at home waiting for my parents to get a councillor.

**** my life.

That + being an Atheist in a private Catholic school = my middle school experience.
User avatar #71 - codyxvasco (01/23/2013) [-]
My high school experience has so far been filled with:
-Censorship
-Over-analysis of school time by the magical fairy princessistration
-Trying too hard to avoid being politically incorrect
-Making absence seem much better than tardiness
-Far too many people trying to be gangster
-Whores everywhere
-Homework and stuff
-Being told to prepare for my future asap
-Overpriced food
-Regret
User avatar #82 to #71 - exclamation (01/23/2013) [-]
Mine has been filled with:
-Bible-lovers
-Bible-lovers who get hard at the work Swag
-Swag
-Psychological effects of bullying and a few 'the like' things
-Overpriced food
-Being mistaken for a college student.

Some lady came up to me in the cafeteria building and asked me if I wanted to sign up to vote. And that's what life is like for high school on a college campus.

WORD, not WORK

damn it...
User avatar #74 to #71 - critality (01/23/2013) [-]
the tardy vs absences piss me off the most, 5 minutes late and my teachers literally nearly shout "how dare you?!" and go off on a goddamn rant but If I straight up skip 2 days they don't say a thing. Now if I'm late I simply dont go.
User avatar #194 to #74 - codyxvasco (01/24/2013) [-]
I don't even mind some teachers being upset at your being late, even though I don't think we get enough passing time, I somewhat understand them. But what really kills my boner is that on your second tardy to school you get an office detention, then an in school suspension and every offense after that, an at home suspension.

Disciplinary action for not showing up to school: No credit for a course after your 15th absence, a call home after 10.

And how long do you get between classes? In some situations you need to jog to make the bell with our 4 minutes.
User avatar #88 to #74 - neptuneport (01/23/2013) [-]
My school started a new policy yesterday that once the final bell rings, teachers lock the doors, and you can't get into class. You have to go to the commons and miss the entire period. Even if you are right outside the door, they won't let you in.

My principle came out and said "These will be the best years of your life!" Even the ******* teachers laughed.

Highschool sucked, teachers didn't know crap, jocks and douchebags tried to show off to people and idiots would believe that they are cool, everywhere there were special cliqs where people seperated themselves from others. HIGH-SCHOOL SUCKED BALLS.

Agreed, College on the other hand is way better.
#64 to #62 - colonelroymustang (01/23/2013) [-]
I really don't remember high school the same way as everyone else I guess. Or, maybe I was on the douchebag side of things. And I always thought of cliques as a good thing. It just keeps you around the people you tend to get along with, but I kind of jumped around between alot of them so I suppose I have no clue again. Don't get me wrong, highschool was aweful- but I never think that for the same reasons.
Done rambling.
sorry.

TBH.
I kinda miss high school.

I work two jobs and go to college now and I just take my life day to day, having no idea what to anticipate or what to do.

It was sorta nice knowing that you'd be dealing with the same people every day, and you knew exactly what to do and when to do it.

But then Again New York City has the worst best schools in the country.

i know what you mean. i am now in some school where alone in my class age varies between 16 and 30. i really can't connect to their humor and they can't connect to mine. it's kinda depressing
User avatar #39 to #36 - fromtheinternet (01/23/2013) [-]
I'm leaving for uni soon and I'm going to be like that soon too, so I feel for you. The other people in my classes now don't get my humour and so on so I'm known as the creepy girl that might snap to them
#41 to #39 - lemleet (01/23/2013) [-]
well, i can't say that about myself, because i don't act like i used to in my other school. i just don't want to hang out with my classmates afer school or be close friends with them. i don't know. my brother is now at an university and his friends are more like me. i guess i love myself or "my own kind" just too much
User avatar #42 to #41 - fromtheinternet (01/23/2013) [-]
I like my own kind (the internet trawlers) but it doesn't help that I can't stand other people.. Which isn't as fun as it sounds
#45 to #42 - lemleet (01/23/2013) [-]
i think it depends on where you are from. i don't know if it's true what they say about american schools, but as far as i know it is pretty ******* ****** and depressing. I live in germany and here you get along with almost everyone by drinking one beer together or have something of similar interest (yeah, i guess it's pretty easy) you won't get bullied for things like status here in most schools. but don't get me wrong. we do have bullies. but they are dealt with easily.
User avatar #47 to #45 - fromtheinternet (01/23/2013) [-]
I'm in the UK and status is everything, I'm openly working class and a gamer with nerdy friends, and I was bullied a lot (homophobia as well, which I got as well, as I was with a girl for a while) and they stay on with it where I am. I don't know what it is about us British and our grudges.
#53 to #47 - lemleet (01/23/2013) [-]
i ******* hate those bully ******** . as i am quite muscular and don't have the lowest self esteem i usually don't get bullied but i used to and i'm thankful for that because now i can help victims of bullying. don't get me wrong. i really don't want to be tough on the internet
User avatar #55 to #53 - fromtheinternet (01/23/2013) [-]
I'm not strong physically but I'm kind of mentally numb from previous bullying so I try to help others being bullied, but some stuff just gets to me, and it just sticks with you for life. I hate seeing other getting hurt how I was and I've stood up for so many kids
#59 to #55 - lemleet (01/23/2013) [-]
if i encounter a bully my main problem is that i am not good with words IRL. what i can say is that you should stand up for yourself the most or you'll get bullied further. in your life you yourself should be in first postion and then the others around you. sounds douchy but it really helps you.
User avatar #61 to #59 - fromtheinternet (01/23/2013) [-]
Its not douchy, its true that that's how I should think but easier said than done

i like high school, you've gotta think of it this way. never will you be in an environment where all of your friends are in the same place at the same time. you've gotta appreciate what you have.
#165 to #25 - iseeafaggot **User deleted account** (01/23/2013) [-]
Look at it this way: The only reason you're friends are in the same place at the same time is because they have to be there not because they want to...

rlly, the place where kids constantly starting **** for no reason, rumors, fights, gossip, teachers don't give a **** about you, and while this is going on they expect you to totally focus on school and decide on what you want to do the rest of you life before you're even technically an adult

never would of guessed
User avatar #37 to #22 - inomonym (01/23/2013) [-]
It really depends on the school... I've heard a LOT of high school horror stories, but none from my high school. It was calm, the teachers cared (well, most of them anyways), and everyone knows everyone else and their grandmothers. One of the perks of being from a REALLY small town I guess.
User avatar #54 to #37 - chuca (01/23/2013) [-]
yea, but most public schools, whether they're in a good area or not, are like this
sad when you think bout it
User avatar #57 to #54 - inomonym (01/23/2013) [-]
It is because everything is forced and no one can go at their own pace. We don't really start living until high school is done, and then everything you choose to do to get through this life is your choice.
User avatar #60 to #57 - chuca (01/23/2013) [-]
yea but it sucks cuz a lot of kids **** up in high school because they're just not ready or they have too much happening in their lives at the moment, and suffer because of it
User avatar #67 to #60 - inomonym (01/23/2013) [-]
Only to some degree. I know plenty of drop outs who've completed courses to get their equivalent, and while they bitch and moan that they have to do it, they're better off a short time later when it's done.
User avatar #160 to #67 - chuca (01/23/2013) [-]
yea, but a g.e.d. or watever, while technically the same, is never as good
#17 - anonymous (01/23/2013) [-]
Well I'm 16 and not in high school. I don't do drugs or drink yet everyone else in my high school does. They actually smoke pot right outside the school. I was evaluated for an I.Q. last year and it was a 145. The average in my school right now is 101. Who the **** is in charge of these places?
User avatar #52 to #17 - Kaamraan (01/23/2013) [-]

User avatar #21 to #17 - chuca (01/23/2013) [-]
