I think I might have gotten incredibly lucky. I got a job at a local fast food place within a few days of applying. The interview consisted of being told what the job was like.
User avatar #55 - srapture (01/22/2013) [-]
For a job at the cinema, they had one open position and I was the only application they had in the interview pile, according to my 2 friends that work there. Don't hear from them for 2 weeks. They've started taking in CVs for the position. Feels batman.

I've only ever had 1 other job and that was a Christmas temp position at Royal Mail. I've done volunteering and stuff but I'm not quite sure how else to improve it without more work experience which I can't get without more work experience which I can't get without more work experience which I can't get without more work experience which I can't get without more work experience which I can't get without more work experience which I can't get without more work experience which I can't get without more work experience which I can't get without more work experience...

Internship. . .
User avatar #65 to #60 - srapture (01/23/2013) [-]
How do I do that? Keep in mind that I'm still in full-time education, taking A-levels.

Oh so you're a high school student?
User avatar #73 to #72 - srapture (01/23/2013) [-]
At the intermediate stage between high school and university. I always thought that internships were more specific. Like, get an internship with a plumber if you want to go into plumbing later on in life.

Its Equal Opportunity Employment.

White people aren't going to be employed unless ALL the coloreds get the job first.
User avatar #49 to #45 - KayRed (01/22/2013) [-]
**** man, this had nothing to do with race.
User avatar #46 to #45 - fuckingtroll (01/22/2013) [-]
What if white people aren't qualified?
Hue no but I'm kidding that sucks and you should probably report that.

If they actually seem to be refusing to hire people based on their race, then yeah. If you were exaggerating, then no, there's nothing illegal going on.

If thats the case I can assume you're not 16 years old, which is when you should have started working and building up a resumé (or whatever the word is)

But don't fear. You can volunteer.
Also, do as much charity **** as you possible can. Like red cross or that kind.
It's gold to have a charity thingamabob as a referance

The solution?
INTERNSHIP.
User avatar #77 to #40 - HeartOfTheDL (01/23/2013) [-]
Need experiance for job.

Need job for experience.

Industry doesn't offer internship.

Funding for own project to gain that experience requires experienced person. FML

Im moving up in the world, I've got passed the application stage, now im stuck at the interview stage. I've had 3 interviews with McDonalds, 1 With M&S, 2 with ASDA and failed every one.

Maybe your neighbors need help with their lawn or something.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you can use just about anybody as a work reference as long as they agree to it.
User avatar #17 to #16 - plainarcane **User deleted account** (01/22/2013) [-]
Right, I'll just run and go do that so I can put "mowed my neighbor's lawn" on my resume. They'll be so impressed.
User avatar #18 to #17 - theugandanhero (01/22/2013) [-]
Well, maybe if you would actually commit to something that was more productive than sitting on here all day, then you could actually put just more than "mowed my neighbors lawn" on your damn resume.
User avatar #21 to #18 - plainarcane **User deleted account** (01/22/2013) [-]
I believe the whole ******* point is that I'm committed to finding a job, which has proven to be an impossible task for somebody that has no experience. And the only way for me to get the experience I need to get a job, IS TO GET A JOB.
User avatar #22 to #21 - theugandanhero (01/22/2013) [-]
No, that's not the only way. And if you think it is, well, you're not trying hard enough.
User avatar #24 to #22 - plainarcane **User deleted account** (01/22/2013) [-]
Have you ever applied for a job? They all demand at least a year of experience of work in the field that you're applying for. While it's true that there are SOME out there that accept applicants who have no experience, those few have literally hundreds of applications. Trying to get one of those jobs is like trying to win the lottery. Stop trying to lecture people in matters that you know nothing about.
User avatar #25 to #24 - theugandanhero (01/22/2013) [-]
Calm the **** down, I ain't lecturing ya. Stop trying to find excuses where it's everyone else's fault that you can't get a job. Volunteer work does wonders, you know.
Also, question:
Why are you being hostile towards me when all I'm trying to do is give you suggestions on how to acquire a job? Like I said, it's not rocket science. You can't just sit on here and dwell on the fact that you can't get a job; it's only as hard as you make it.
User avatar #12 - mrhazzy (01/22/2013) [-]

Do you even lift?
User avatar #27 to #9 - wellfuckmylife (01/22/2013) [-]
There are plenty of jobs that don't require any experience..
But still, if you can't find something suitable, then can still apply for a job (which needs experience). You just have to shine and have great talking skills. They will take you even though you don't have experience if you can talk a hole in their head.
