I get being passionate about something, but that's seriously too complicated an answer even for that.

It's like asking someone who their favorite football team is and they start going over the team's history and records.

In the long run, Charmander is best.

However, if you're trying to do a speed run, it's best to go with Squirtle

You need a lot of water to do that. So you need a lot of not-very-effective water attacks to beat a grass pokemon.

Any animal can die from over hydration. WATER IS SUPER EFFECTIVE AGAINST EVERYTHING!

I think they're going on the notion that plants absorb water. Hence why grass moves such as absorb are super effective. In this instance, 'too much water' doesn't really come into it.

Pretty much. Pokemon just doesn't work like that. Water gets absorbed by Grass, Grass gets burnt by Fire, and Fire gets doused by Water. Sure you can drown a plant IRL, but Pokemon does't really take that into account.

without nostalgia pokemon doesn't have ****, I tried playing them for the first time when I was 20 and found it to be a huge grind fest, no dept, bad story writing and average Jrpg combat system.
The cartoon was **** too

so people, don't let your nostalgia take over you, accept that the game hasn't aged well at all

(01/22/2013) [-]
Okay. Well. I guessing that you're referring to the first paragraph as "With Venusaur's....choose bulbasaur" What its saying is that in the fifth generation of the pokemon games (black and white, and black2 and white2) Venusaur received the new ability of Chlorophyll, which is a very good ability, though the dream world. The sleep mechanics of the game were also changed in gen V. A pokemon will be asleep for a certain number of turns when it is put to sleep, and will wake up at the end of the set number of turns. What changed is with the new gen, the "counter" for the set number of turns will reset each time a pokemon switches out of batlle. So lets say for example that your Blastoise uses rest. It will be asleep for two turns if it stays in battle for the entire duration of its rest. However, if you switch it out lets say after burning one turn of sleep, when it switches back in it will have to sleep for another two turns before waking up. It is strange that this would be a factor in chooseing Bulbasaur because the new sleep mechanics aren't THAT game changing. But none the less, Venusaur does get sleep powder and the new mechanics will give it that much more of an edge. With the combination of its new ability and other new mechanics, such as how the move "Growth" got changed up, Venusaur got launched up into to the upper tiers of pokemon competitive battling. The tiers are set by Smogon University and Venusaur got placed into the Overused tier. Venusaur is better in the meta game than Blastoise and Charizard but for just normal playing of the game it doesn't matter.

Sorry it's long but this is the best explanation I could give. Hope it helps.

You actually build Venusaur as a physical attacker. Sleep powder gives you a free swords dance, which allows you to sweep entire teams thanks to chlorophyll and the coverage and power of earthquake and stab power whip. I think you usually use a zoom lens to help with the accuracy problems from power whip and sleep powder.

Says Gen V makes Bulbasaur obvious choice. If she were to bother she'd just play yellow again.
But you can't trade Pokemon from the Game Boy to Game Boy Advance! They changed the game mechanics too much.
