How is the goverment supposed to give you "Good Life Oppurtunities"?
User avatar #115 to #109 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (01/22/2013) [-]

Or it the Government could give money away, just like that; at least that's what I think that people expect out of this "good life opportunity" thing.

It's not enough that you can receive so many damn benefits for being a complete fatass.
#139 to #115 - anonymous (01/22/2013) [-]
Well, they could actually help that if they taxed the **** out of companies either sourcing their workers to different countries or making one person do the jobs of 5. And by tax the **** out of it I mean make it impossible to profit from so USA citizens would actually get jobs.

Unfortunately, no one's going to do that.
#140 to #139 - anonymous (01/22/2013) [-]
^this. So much this.

I don`t get why most Amercians still are capitalists with a hate for the left wing, when their country is doing so horribly. Capitalism makes the rich richer and the poor just as poor.
#128 to #126 - anonymous (01/22/2013) [-]
Most Americans hate the left wing? The left wing is in power in the entire legislative and executive branches by election. I don't see how "most Americans" hate them if they elected them.
You just hear a lot more about the ones that hate the left wing because they tend to be the ones making radical and stupid statements.
#131 to #128 - veryinteresting (01/22/2013) [-]
yeah, I actually think Obama is very good for America, but I think America needs a more radical change. Further out on the left wing, because right now, america is basically a capitalist country.
#133 to #131 - anonymous (01/22/2013) [-]
If you go further out on the left wing, you start running into people that are just as crazy as extreme conservatives. Extreme liberal is still not a good thing. America needs an independent. Someone who doesn't have an agenda.
#135 to #133 - veryinteresting (01/22/2013) [-]
Well, maybe, but look at Norway, we have a socialist country and it works perfectly almost, our economy is solid, and out welfare is one of the best in the world
#137 to #135 - anonymous (01/22/2013) [-]
Socialist isn't really farther left wing than obama though. Obama has a lot of Socialist views and is putting more in place. Socialism isn't very far left wing still. It's pretty much on par with Capitalism on the spectrum, just in a different way.
#187 to #137 - veryinteresting (01/22/2013) [-]
I think communism is a better idea then capitalism, but it will unfortunatley never work, because people are too selfish. Pure capitalism doesnt work either. I just dont get why you view communists as bad people, because their theoughts are all about equality. Its a very good thought.
#124 to #115 - anonymous (01/22/2013) [-]
That is the most closed-minded statement I've ever ******* heard.

My dad's a Gulf War veteran and is disabled from the war, and not only did we have to fight the VA for his supplementary income, it's less than it should be.
My mom has had two spinal surgeries, the second one repairing what the first doctor ****** up in the first surgery. She's not physical applicable for work. However, we can't get disability cause we're getting my dad's checks, which isn't enough to afford a home for ourselves, so we're living with my grandma.
Please, ******* tell me how it's so easy to "get so many damn benefits for being a fatass" when my family is relying on our government to keep us afloat, and it's just BARELY working.

You are a closed minded piece of **** , just so you know.

I'm fairly pleased with taxes, I mean, if you said "NO MORE TAXES!" that would mean no more policemen, no more Army, no more firefighters, and no more free services that your county, state, city, or town provides.

User avatar #155 to #89 - glasgowrangers (01/22/2013) [-]
There are no free services
User avatar #114 to #89 - undeadwill (01/22/2013) [-]
No one wants "no taxes". We want less taxes money spent on **** that is unnecessary, ineffective and harmful to the people. Like the drug war and other patriotic pleasantries

Government stealing your privacy, its okay. Government suspending your right for a fair trial, oh thats okay. Government gathering evidence to convict you illegally, oh thats okay. Putting limits on free speech, oh thats okay too. Government banning assault rifles, THATS TOO DAMN FAR.
User avatar #94 to #87 - psykobear (01/22/2013) [-]

Last month, the senate voted overwhelmingly to reauthorize a program that could collect data on any american citizen and hold onto it FOREVER. They could look at your emails, texts, any sort of messenger information. And not a peep out of the crowd that is always bitching about "what the framers intended" on the second amendment.
User avatar #198 to #197 - psykobear (01/22/2013) [-]
You say not a peep out of the crowd, but who was the crowd? The people who vote for the laws aren't the only ones who have to obey them. The people don't always get a say.
#199 to #198 - theseustheminotaur (01/22/2013) [-]
The crowd who is against gun control. As in the people. The argument a lot of people make against gun control is it infringes on the second amendment. How come they don't defend the 4th amendment from the patriot act?
User avatar #201 to #199 - psykobear (01/22/2013) [-]
Many believe the Patriot Act is infringing upon our rights, but we as citizens are powerless to go against it.

The internet is the only place that lets me enjoy social things with time to think before I reply so that I can fool people into thinking I'm not an awkward douche bag. It's the only place I truly can browse freely because I like the choice of going somewhere without much complication... The internet will always be here to comfort me which is more than the government or the media ever did for me. The media likes to keep us scared so we don't stop watching their idiotic shows, while the government just likes to tell us everything is ok rather than showing us...

Long live the internet
User avatar #97 to #77 - majorhurt (01/22/2013) [-]
I couldn't agree more with your point of having time to think of thoughtful replies in a conversation. Not that I can't talk to people normally, but I wish sometimes I could have said some things more intelligently, or even take some things back. Good job summarizing why the internet is better than the media.

Why should the government give you life opportunities? It's not like the people that worry about the internet being censored don't have access to great education and job opportunities.
User avatar #157 to #69 - glasgowrangers (01/22/2013) [-]
Well the government should give you life opportunities to a degree.

When a government creates economic crashes and high inflation it takes away life opportunities.

So no, it shouldn't give you life opportunities, but it also shouldn't take them away (like it has done)
User avatar #120 to #69 - rototornjik (01/22/2013) [-]
because the government should serve the people, not vice versa.
User avatar #71 to #69 - swordguyoxd (01/22/2013) [-]
and to add, they aren't "Stealing" money, they're using it for the population.

How can the government give you good life opportunities without money anyways? You can't the product of taxes if there are no taxes
User avatar #76 to #71 - codyxvasco (01/22/2013) [-]
See the thing is though, A ******** of money get's wasted to government officials.

And have you seen how much money has been "used" for:

-Studying how ketchups runs?

-Teaching south african men to wash their genitals?

-Building a bridge next to another bridge?
User avatar #79 to #76 - hammerfell (01/22/2013) [-]
-More efficient Ketchup packaging means less waste of resources, I guess.
-reducing spread of venereal disease around world, increasing American popularity abroad
-reducing traffic congestion, creating jobs, better bridge for bigger vehicles

This type of thing is what the government is supposed to do. Except the ketchup thing, but it doesn't seem like it takes a lot of money to do anyway, and it may have benefits that aren't obvious..
User avatar #81 to #79 - codyxvasco (01/22/2013) [-]
These were pork barrel spending cases.

Meaning they hid these in other bills so people wouldn't notice. The ketchup one was Millions of dollars for a man to take two brands of ketchup and squirt them on two vertical paper plates.
User avatar #202 to #81 - swordguyoxd (01/23/2013) [-]
millions? Thats it?

Do you know how much money people spend buying ketchup? Im sure they made their money back if this actually happened.
User avatar #203 to #202 - codyxvasco (01/23/2013) [-]
It was millions TO a man.
User avatar #83 to #81 - hammerfell (01/22/2013) [-]
Regardles of whether or not these were porkbarrell legislation or not, they can end up helping government accomplish what it is supposed to.. Except the ketchup one. That seems like a waste, but maybe, however slim the chance is, it was a good idea.
User avatar #85 to #83 - codyxvasco (01/22/2013) [-]
I just think these are used to put money in the pockets of random government officials.

But I know virtually nothing about politics so I don't even know if I could carry on in this conversation.

Television, movies, music, newspapers, speech.... All censored in some way shape or form.

The government isn't giving you good life opportunities? You have the ability to get a computer and internet and enough free time to make this content. You obviously have some opportunity to do something with your life. It isn't the government's job to just hand out a life to everyone. Go out and grab life by the horns, man.
