Well, that's.... depressing. I had a good day today, why did you do this to me?

At first it is depressing but then think, you're a human that can be in history books or help the people be historic, you will have a hand at making something so miniscule be a major thing and remembered for centuries or more. Anything you do can effect everything on Earth to impact someone anywhere in the universe and the universe can do the same to you. Everyone is the most important piece of the longest history we know: mankind.
User avatar #326 to #319 - hammerfell (01/22/2013) [-]
That's true, but I can't get over the fact that eventually, none of that matters, because no one will be around to remember or care. And it doesn't look like we can change that.

Well guys, we had a good run.

You're forgetting that some of your best memories or values from life can come from those same people you cared for.

At the same time I think I get what you're saying. For me, it's scary to think that if people could just indefinitely live forever then maybe relationships would become impersonal over time. I hope not, but it's a scary thought.

I like to think that all the anime and television series I see on tv about space actually happens at some point in the future. All of those people get to live. I do like dreams....

we already have a base on the moon. im pretty sure in 50,000 years we would have a new earth. in 3 billion years they would either evacuate or find a way to stop the sun.
#311 to #273 - cameronrox (01/22/2013) [-]
Dude we have to stop the sun!! if the sun's evil plans come to fruition all shall perish!!

Stopping the sun is outright impossible. There is no way you could contain that much energy. So looks like moving is our next option. A chinese teenage girl won a competition by coming up with a plausible ion drive that could be used for long distance space travel last year.

The depressing end to our Universe always sends pangs of emotion through me. Doomed to fade away into nothing, ripped apart down to the last atom. No sunny days, no fantastic night skies or warm feelings. Just... nothing.

I have this idea that every civilization that arises realizes they need to collapse the Universe in order for it to explode outwards once again, and hope the new Universe would figure it out and repeat the process.
#295 to #263 - Elemental (01/22/2013) [-]
There is a theory that on the other side of a black hole there is like a white burst, and every white burst is the big bang of a parrallel universe.
User avatar #276 to #263 - jamesrustler (01/22/2013) [-]
“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”
User avatar #314 to #276 - hibbydibby (01/22/2013) [-]
You just took my mind out to dinner, romanced it, and then vigorously ****** it behind a dumpster behind a Burger King. I want to look more into this theory
