I actually now acknowledge the fallacy behind american freedom. in January California passed an initiative that allows the state to remove funds from your bank account without warning or notification. America ain't what it used to be. And yes i know this from experience, they removed over 800 bucks from my account because i forgot to register my broken down moped that only costs 35 bucks to register.

I find it interesting that people are adamant about banning assault rifles when most violent crimes involving firearms are with handguns.

so ban all guns, problem solved

Got one of them badboys behind my bed in my dorm room in case of sneak attacks. Although me and my roomate are like the only people that have them so attacks are usually domestic and end up in civil warfare.

i'm from canada and what is this?
#214 to #101 - fantomen (01/17/2013) [-]
In Canada you can buy Anti tank rifles without a license...
Pic related. They are legally treated the same way as hunting rifles.

The other gun on that picture is an RPD machine gun BTW, they aren't exactly small either.
User avatar #319 to #214 - thecurlysage (01/18/2013) [-]
the only guns i see are the ones on a cop's belt
User avatar #358 to #319 - fantomen (01/18/2013) [-]
Then you presumably don't go outside the house often, or you live in a high-income area of a major city.

Even as a European I see guns in civilian hands more often than police.

WOOHOOO EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE GUNS 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHT AMIRITE?? Disregard teh fact that the founding fathers had no experience with weapons that could fire more than one shot without reloading, or guns that could fire accurately from more than 50ft away the second amendment totally protects your right to a weapon capable of killing a room full of people without reloading. Stay classy fj
#146 to #93 - lordaurion (01/17/2013) [-]
1. Most of the founding fathers were tinkerers and at that time repeating arms was one if the biggest goals of inventors. Google the "puckle gun".
2. Muskets are accurate to much more than 50ft, the rifles they had even more so.
3. Yes it does because the whole point of the amendment is to help protect the others.
User avatar #129 to #93 - chiefrunnyjeans (01/17/2013) [-]
>implying the founding fathers wrote the second amendment for just personal protection
Are you stupid? The guns that they had back then were the technological equivalent to our semi automatic rifles. If they had m16's back then they would have made sure to include them in the second amendment. It is the right to keep and bear arms and shall not be infringed. We have these weapons to keep a check on the government. It's just part of democracy. If you don't like it then move to somewhere where your views will be accepted, like china.
#100 to #95 - anonymous (01/17/2013) [-]
nah those are just fact the founding fathers had never seen an m16 or a glock even
#111 to #100 - anonymous (01/17/2013) [-]
another fact. the reason we have the right to bear arms is to protect us from our own government.
#225 to #111 - gisuar (01/17/2013) [-]
try to defend yourself with a gun if the government uses tanks and **** against their own people.
User avatar #104 to #100 - violenthandjob (01/17/2013) [-]
Actually the fact is that is a personal interpretation of what the Second Amendment entails, and SCOTUS is not on the side of it.

Wait, wait. I think I misunderstood who you were replying to.
Is this "just fact the founding fathers had never seen an m16 or a glock even" Comment by the anon above what you were replying to when you said " and SCOTUS is not on the side of it."?
#221 to #219 - lordaurion (01/17/2013) [-]
Sorry, for whatever reason I registered the reply lines as you talking to this anon "another fact. the reason we have the right to bear arms is to protect us from our own government. "

i was curious because i own an AK, and looked up the ban on wikipedia from '94, its basically anything that looks "mean" to a dumbass politician. For rifles its not only 10 round or higher magazines, but pistol grips, retractable, telescopic or folding stocks, flash hiders, bayonet lugs, or ******* grenade launchers, because every criminal has a damned grenade launcher. pistols can't have a magazine that protrudes from the gun, flash hider or even barrel threads, same stock rules on shotguns, and you can't have more than 5 rounds. America, i am disappoint.

Yeah. Because the amount of ammo in the magazine/clip is the most crucial factor in why people are killed. Crazy psychopaths with guns has nothing to do with it. Dont focus on getting better medical attention in the Mental field, that would be an absolute waste of time.
Good one, Obama.
User avatar #68 to #62 - Onemanretardpack (01/17/2013) [-]
While I don't agree with the magazine restrictions he advocated, for the most part he's pretty educated about the whole situation and I support him in his efforts as long as they don't try and ban "scary" weapon features.
User avatar #89 to #68 - rhiaanor (01/17/2013) [-]
im fine as long as they dont ban guns period, and violent games. If they do i will suggest we lock up obama with nothing but violent video games and then put him in a room with a tied up man and many many ways to kill him. And see what happens within 24 hours. of course there will be food in the room
User avatar #79 to #68 - CRosBY (01/17/2013) [-]
Like banning assault weapons? What the **** is an "Assault Weapon"?
User avatar #83 to #79 - Onemanretardpack (01/17/2013) [-]
You and I both know that **** won't pass through congress. Hell, HE knows it won't. That's why he left it to congress. That way he can tell the anti-gun people that he tried, while not being one of the most hated presidents of all time by pushing through an executive order that infringes the second amendment. He knows that if he does that, the Republicans will have a much bigger role in the government because because the people who passed this will NOT be voted in again, and he doesn't want that

It's gotten so bad that Rick Perry actually had one of the most intelligent comments on the controversy, being disgusted by the fact that Obama is using the school shooting as leverage for it, saying he should rather be focusing on fixing the mental health problems that are causing people to do this.
