Honestly, the only shiny I've even ever seen was the red gyrados in gold, silver, crystal.

Honestly accidently killing is better then encountering before you can have pokeballs. Why would you risk attacking a shiny pokemon?

Only shiny ever was Raticate in Crystal. It was in a little tuft of grass on Route 21, I believe.

I got White 2, little dissapointed by the pokemon immediately available so my team was empty until I got past the second gym. I figured I'd better get some back up before leaving so I headed to the power station to get a growlithe and BAM! The first one I find is ******* golden.
AAAAAAAAAAAAWWWW YISSSSSSS!

I have gotten two shinies, both in sapphire.
First one I got near the beginning of the game, and I was riding back and forward in front of the daycare center to hatch an egg. I wasn't paying attention because I was watching tv or something in the background and I rode into some grass and a pokemon appeared. It was a roselia and I almost didn't notice the fact that it was shiny. Thank god I caught it.
Second was much later in the game. I can't remember why but I was somewhere near mauville city in a cave and I came across a shiny voltorb. I was happy that I caught it too.
I feel so lucky because whenever I read other peoples stories they either aren't able to catch them or they have never come across them.

That'd take a long ass time bro, you'd have to walk all the way over to whatever legendary it is you want, beating all the gyms on the way.
And you reset everytime.

I'm just stomping my way around skypiller tower in emerald out of the ******* blue comes a green golbat with pink wings. I caught him with the master ball i had saved for the legendary at the top of the tower since it was my only pokeball on hand. Side note I've been playing leaf green for four months doing soft resets to get shiny squirtle

I was on my way to deliver Oak's Parcel, one of the first things you need to do in the game. So I deliver it, and leave the Pokemart. I start down the road when I remember there's a path that leads to the Elite Four/Victory Road over to the left. I decide "Why not?" and go over to see it. Walking into the tall grass for a few steps, when I find a wild Pokemon. I think it'll be a good experience battle so I don't get too annoyed. As I'm watching the pokemon slide into frame, I notice the color is slightly off. "...no ******* way..." and right before my eyes, a shiny Rattatta appears! I was so excited! ...until I remembered one crucial detail...I didn't have any pokeballs yet... I left that battle with my head held low, and accepted my horrible defeat.
Later on in the game, I get to Cinnabar Island. I decide to walk around in the mansion on that island for some experience, maybe find and catch a Growlithe. So I'm just walking, defeating some pokemon here and there. So I'm about to leave when another wild pokemon appears. And I watch. I watch the pokemon slide into frame. I notice...it has a slight color difference than usual. Another. Shiny. Rattatta. I have been given another chance! I go straight to my bag and go for the Ultra balls, I'm not taking any chances of it fainting. I select the Ultra ball and feel victory of catching a shiny inch its way ever so close. When a message appears. "Box is full. Change boxes to catch more Pokemon."
I closed my Game Boy. Lied down. And cried myself to sleep.

But...

If you had to change boxes, that would mean it was one of the original titles.

If you were on the remakes for Gen I, you wouldn't have to swap boxes to store it...

You don't deliver Oak's Parcel in any of those, and the mansion was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in Generation II, leaving only the Pokemon Center.

I picked up that Gold/Silver remake they made for the DS. SoulSilver, I think it was. I was walking down that road between the first two towns, and decided to go up to the bottom of that road that comes from Blackthorn CIty. First pokemon I see in there is a shiny Geodude. Now he's a Level 35 Shiny Graveller...and he's brown. Why...Why did they go from making it grey to making it brown as a shiny? Still, though....shiny Geodude.

It used to happen in the older games. Needless to say I'm glad that it changed as the games progressed. Used to be, you had to manually switch your boxes once they were full in order to allow more pokemon to be caught.

My shiny story? For me to have a shiny story, I'd have to actually meet a shiny first. I've owned every game capable of obtaining a shiny in, and have yet to meet a single one in my thousands of hours spent playing. I've even tried forcing a shiny encounter through some methods in my pokemon pearl playthrough out of desperation. I've given up trying to catch the ever elusive shiny pokempn a long time ago.
