nah, you can compare an extra large pizza to a van and say it is tiny but it's still a big ass pizza, our lives compared to animal is really long, whether something is big or short depends on what you compare it to so anything could be big or small, by that logic I could say life is extremely long because a may fly only lives for a day. I think people use the phrase when they feel they haven't got enough time to do what they want and not as a fact.
