The ice pack will drip from condensation on the outside. You're sponge does not help

I thought the exact same thing myself, maybe one of the people thumbing you down could also explain how a sponge is actually meant to do anything.

I just took down some Christmas lights today.
My dad came up with a pretty cool life hack to easily roll them up and put them away so that next winter, they aren't a bitch to untangle.

Just cut out an hourglass looking shape out of cardboard and a hole for a handle, then wrap the Christmas lights around it. Picture to help you understand better.

We wrap ours around an empty wrapping paper roll. Never gets tangled

why do we have to put the plastic bottle sideways ?
User avatar #37 to #34 - crawlerz (01/12/2013) [-]
A lot of these bottles have built in straws, if there was a block of ice at the bottom you wouldn't be able to use it at all. (since the straw would be trapped in the ice).
Alternatively laying it on its side creates a bigger surface area on the ice, cooling the beverage faster.
#47 to #37 - pickinon (01/12/2013) [-]
Except the fact that you would have to twist on the cap with the straw in the cap (atleast the ones I have are that way) so the ice would be even more in the way.

Exactly what I was thinking, what is so bad about just standing it up and freezing the bottom
User avatar #64 to #34 - radamski (01/12/2013) [-]
Pretty sure the water would take longer to cool from the bottom up
#62 to #38 - John Cena (01/12/2013) [-]
Because if its frozen sideways instead of on the bottom, your water gets colder faster

My dad taught me the extension cord trick, and I've been freezing water bottles for years.

Fun Fact: When you put a bunch of reposts together, it becomes a "comp"!
