oh boy... well it seems fj doesn't agree with me here. I'm not an expert on the subject but I know we're currently in a recession (although not as bad as a couple years ago). AND we rely on China for quite a bit, trade-wise. AND, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we in a pretty steep debt with China at the moment?

No.
Most of that debt is unpaid pensions, and debt to American citizens.

Yes, we are in debt to china, but it isn't as much, we're mostly in debt to foreign investors and private businesses.

China is worse off.
They're closing factories left and right because they're running out of oil, and they cook their books a lot, much of what they say about their economy is just out right impractical.

Not to mention their hardliners lose more support day after day.

well alot of usa's power comes from trade dealing with china...if china's economy collapses and it will due to overspending on building unnecessary infrastructure, then usa goes down the toilet....though china can just turn to its big brother russia for support....who will support usa?

As the vietnamese proved against the americans. you don't need to be militarily stronger than your enemy to win, you just need to kill enough of their soldiers so they give up.

Vietnamese were well equipped to deal with the Americans, and received training and support from the Soviet Union.

Not like the vietnamese did it on their own.

well equiped? seriously

get your history straight, they got weapons allright, but they got it from china
of the steel of terrible quality that they overproduced and couldn't get rid of.

btw, soviet union dropped out of it 1 year after the war started, first of all because they had a non-attacking pact with the USA and the second reason was because they were argueing with china about it.

not much training was done by russians, russians had only granted scientist, to help produce weapons, china only interfered once or twice in the whole war because the allied forces came to close to their front.

so lets get this summed up, the vietnamese had inferior weapons, they were outnumbered with about 3 capitalist to 1 communist. Most of them were farmers before the war started, all the troops from the allied forces were real soldiers.

so vietnamese just managed to take you down by supreme tactics and knowledge of the landscape. + usa didn't do a background check of the leader of south-vietnam, the people weren't really fond of him anymore, so the desertion rate was higher ;) that's all, sorry for the long read ;p

If this is about population size then America only has about 315 million people, where the Nordic countries have 25 million. But the People's Republic of China has 1.3 billion, so it should be substantially bigger than America.

Maybe this is power (since the Nordic countries are boasting strength), which probably isn't too far off.
If we're talking world relevance... Then it's probably about right too... I really have no point with this comment. Good night.
