Well, to be honest, I didn't read it completly. Just read the first part and the channel so I didn't expect a joke. I'll leave my comment though so people can thumb my stupidity down.

Indeed. I've figured it out. Apparently what the other people here find so damn hilarious is that the man was playing the bagpipes for just a septic tank, not the homeless man he thought he was playing for, and the workers are crying and such, as you can see from the last two lines.

Is that even funny? I don't think it is, or maybe it's just that due to watching much of our sublime British comedy (none of that Freinds or US Office bullshit) I have been de-sensitised to funnies.

Well, I live in Spain and our comedy lately (despite it used to be pretty funny) is mostly like US's but with more sexual implications and mostly (there are still exceptions) even less funny. Nevertheless, I didn't find it funny either so I guess either it is not or we are just embittered bastards.

No reason to be honest, I'm just interested in Spanish culture and such since having Spanish lessons at school and going to Barcelona a while ago.

And yes the Canary Islands, named after dogs I believe? From the Latin "canaria" which came from "Canine", which now we use as a general term for dogs.

Well I'm a (usually) prod spaniard guy and I love talking about my country so if you want to ask, don't hesitate.
There are several theories about the name of the islands but mostly they have something to do with dogs (our coat of arms has 2 dogs on it). Canariae Insulae is the latin term for "Islands of Dogs" so yes, you were almost right.
