This was rectified by every science class I've ever taken.
We're not allowed to take any measurements that are not in metric units.

america is the most overweight country in the world by a large margin. and they talk like retards

The margin is only a few percent between the USA and I believe Qatar for portion of the population overweight. And obesity number between the US and UK is also only a few percent.

wow replying to an anon comment is so stupid.
#381 to #356 - rotinaj (01/09/2013) [-]
I think you mean by a small margin, Anon.
User avatar #380 to #356 - cutter (01/09/2013) [-]
the first part of your hypothesis is correct, but that second part isn't the full truth, you're basing your claim on the stupid people of my country and not the the full population. if you want me to, i could talk like a retard to you, though. skwibbley gibbley squady doo, i took a **** and it looked like you.

As an American,
I really wish they would have taught the metric system in school. It's a pain in the ass not knowing it when I see something labeled in it.
I also see it as being pretty asinine that we refuse to essentially make communication with the rest of the world just that much easier.

Thanks again American education. . . .
User avatar #376 to #351 - riggedarcade (01/09/2013) [-]
Actually I think the reasoning behind our weird ass system is that a system based on 12 is more divisible as opposed to the metric system's pretty numbers that are based on 10.
#485 to #376 - anonymous (01/09/2013) [-]
i dont see how 12 is more divisible than 10 in a base 10 number system. maybe thats just me.
how many centimeters in a meter? how many meters in a kilometer? how many centimeters in a kilometer? youre just increasing or decreasing by a factor of 10. easy to do in your head.
how many inches in a foot? how many feet in a mile? how many inches in a mile? that takes a little more thought.
User avatar #569 to #485 - riggedarcade (01/10/2013) [-]
well think about it, 10 is divisible by 1,2,5, and itself.

where 12 is divisible by 1,2,3,4,6, and itself.
User avatar #374 to #351 - asschwitz (01/09/2013) [-]
They teach us both in my school district, pretty much one right after the other, a week on US and then a week on Metric, I think, they may have changed it. Either way, not sure why it wasn't taught to you.
User avatar #364 to #351 - forevertrombone ONLINE (01/09/2013) [-]
What kind of school did you go to? I've been forced to use the metric system since the 4th grade and I hate it.

it takes 10 ******* minutes to learn the metric system, i learned it in elementary school... in America. i dont know why we dont use it but quit crying about how you wish you'd learned it
User avatar #367 to #357 - Metallicock (01/09/2013) [-]
If if I did learn it, the U.S. Measurement System will always come to mind first when thinking about thinking about measurements or temperature and I would always compare measurements in the metric system to those in the U.S. System

Actually overall Washington was a pretty bad general who made a ton of errors.
It was really just a handful of good decisions + some luck that lead to victory

Also the firepower statement is questionable at best

I'm from USA and find that Fahrenheit is better for telling people how the air/water feels. I can use Celsius but the schools here don't care about us knowing anything besides 0 is water freezing.

Metric system compared to what USA uses is similar, metric is better, but feet, inches, and miles are nicer distances to compare people and places imo

Ladies and gentlemen, if you look to your left, you can view a wild Eurofag in its natural habitat. Butthurt and angry at it's continents fall from a World Superpower, the Eurofag spends most of its days on the internet trying to find some way to infer it's imagined superiority over others. When a lack of anything that really matters confounds the Eurofag, it often tries using sports that other countries and continents might not care about as proof of this imagined superiority. If it's first method of butthurt attack fails, the Eurofag will often resort to comparing the way it writes down the date or measures the temperature in a desperate final bid to feel superior. When confronted by the fact that the Eurofag's native home has almost twice destroyed the world in the last century, the wild Eurofag usually becomes defensive and unpleasant to be around. When it feels cornered by the truth, it will often say you are an ignorant stupid American.
#312 to #306 - anonymous (01/08/2013) [-]
we are superior. and americans are fat stupid ignorant and hated by the WORLD not just europe. we on the other hand are not. we are disliked by some but not the majority

Saying all Americans are fat and stupid is like saying all British people have bad teeth and are chavs. If you're going to base what you think of a country's people off of a stereotype, then you're no better than the "Amerifags" that you make fun of.
#341 to #328 - anonymous (01/08/2013) [-]
I don't get the whole "british have bad teeth" thing... I have been to the UK a few times and their teeth are normal. I seriously don't get it. Almost half of Americans though are obese to some degree.
#382 to #341 - bigbawser (01/09/2013) [-]
On the whole Americans are fat dispute, yes there are a lot of fat Americans but also there are a large number that are not. And if your going to pull the " Oh everyone in America is fat card", studies have show that the UK is right behind America for obesity next to Mexico, so if your so worried about America being fat how about you control your own obesity rates.

Source: www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity

TL;DR: UK is also fat too

I don't get the whole we have freedom thing, not complaining it's just weird to brag about something like 85% of all the countries in the world have.
Is it a kinda self-jab at the patriotism of American people or do you lot actually believe yourselves to be the only ones with freedom?
Just curios.
#313 to #304 - anonymous (01/08/2013) [-]
I highly doubt anywhere near 85% of the countries in the world have true freedom, and even if they did, the countries that do not have freedom have some of the largest populations in the world (Asian and Middle-Eastern countries)
User avatar #318 to #313 - conoriskool (01/08/2013) [-]
It actually is 85%, maybe 80%. A very high percentage.

honestly on funny junk you never know. one comment that is used and gets a million thumbs up a million times could send someone straight to hell because funny junk just felt like it. I'm almost positive though that this will get thumbed down into hell just because commenting on something that says they will get thumbed down but actually gets thumbed up is almost certain death.

mfw I get comment banned because of how many red thumbs this gets
