It's illegal to *hunt* sharks. In this case, given the nature of the sharks gills, he would've died if he'd stayed in place anyway. By the sounds of it, the diver tried to get him free at first.

He better have been putting it out of it's misery, or something like that. Aren't sharks endangered still? There's like a billion other things that kill more people than sharks.

The shark was wounded, but not mortally. They wernt able to kill it with spear guns and other guns. So they used a pully to pull it up out of the water. The shark was trapped in some tuna nets - it couldn't get out beyond there and I think killining it was necessary. If they had cut the net then the shark would have been free but wouldnt have been able to hunt. And Great Whites are endangered.

So he killed a shark that was basically defenseless? Must have been hard. How many points do I win if I can kill a bear that been chained down?

It was still in the water, albeit in a net. So it was more like

Shark in his natural environment with a handicap VS Man severely outside of his comfort zone with a handicap

And, if you had the balls to jump into a net and stab a great white to death, that would be worth applause, but I don't think people do

They also didn't plan to kill it. They tried everything they could to get it out but only risked their own lives. In fact one of the divers nearly died until his friend came to help him out.

Australian Logic:
- Sharks in the sea.
- Put up shark nets to stop sharks from coming to beach.
- Nets don't reach the bottom however.
- Nets ensnare dolphins and large fish.
- Sharks come to nets to feed on ensnared fish and dolphins.
- Sharks learn the nets mean food.
- Sharks more likely to attack people as result.
