the amount of energy we use doubles every year, if we used half the energy we use now, it would give us another ten years

So what is this made of again? Luminol which reacts with the iron in your blood, that's it? Is there anything else in it? because i wanna make one.
#112 - anonexplains (01/08/2013) [+] (1 reply)
heres how it works, its reversed because this is the method to detect blood from a crime scene but it makes sense

luminol powder (C8H7O3N3) is mixed with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and a hydroxide (e.g., KOH) in a spray bottle. The luminol solution is sprayed where blood might be found. The iron from the hemoglobin in the blood serves as a catalyst for the chemiluminescence reaction that causes luminol to glow, so a blue glow is produced when the solution is sprayed where there is blood

lamp ***** >luminol stock solution (2 g luminol + 15 g potassium hydroxide + 250 mL water)

3% hydrogen peroxide in water (common over-the-counter concentration)

there you go guys

bleach would also work btw. Google for luminol and you'll probabli find what you are looking for. It's the same stuff the police use to make blood light up at a crime scene
