Honestly, I had never been more impressed with Samuel Jackson than I was in Django Unchained. He's the last person you'd expect to play the Uncle Tom role.
User avatar #30 - doigboiger (01/07/2013) [-]
I think that's a dick move from Samuel L Jackson there. Reporters (especially white ones) have to be incredibly careful not to cause offence in anyway or they could lose their job and all credibility and effectively ruin their whole career and life. I wouldn't want to say it on air either, even though I believe no one should take offence to the word. Samuel L Jackson is intimidating the reporter into risking his career for no reason.

Wow, I read it totally different. To me, it's more like Samuel Jackson is trying to take away the discomfort and surrounding the word, making it easier to discuss it.

wuuhuuu, i don't want the dumb people to call me racist" that is why there is still racism in the world, not wanting to say a word just because they think it is racist to just say it is racist in itself

How about not wanting to say it because you are a reporter and it could get you fired?

I watched that movie yesterday.
One of my favorites.
If you havent seen it, i HIGHLY recommend it.

It has a serious storyline, but a LOT of funny parts.
The German dentist is my hero. That level of badassery hasn't been equaled in a long time.

mfw "negro" is actually a polite way of referring to a black person in my country and we have a slave-trade/colonial past

I said that in my 8th grade English class when my teacher was talking about black literature. She said something along the lines of "they called them a word that starts with 'n' and has two syllables'. She thought I said nigger so I got sent to the principle.

MFW that was the 3rd time I was accused of being a racist in school.

That movie was so fucking good. Fucking Django and his one liners.

"I count six shots"

"I count 2 guns nigger"

I find it strange that so many americans find that word so offensive, its a word and the past has passed... move on!
User avatar #22 to #4 - sheepysquirrel (01/07/2013) [-]
Because here in MURICA if we say it people see us as racist regardless of context usually and we would get jumped, have bones broken and our teeth busted out even for ACCIDENTALLY saying it. And then when the courts find out we called some black guy a nigger the assault charges would be dropped.
User avatar #7 to #4 - wolverinebamf (01/07/2013) [-]
It's because white people are weary of being racist, seeing as in America (at least, I'm not sure about everywhere else) Whites are the only people that can possibly be seen as racist, so a lot of people feel they have to go to extreme measures to be politically correct.
User avatar #10 to #7 - swordyou (01/07/2013) [-]
Interesting, to be honest though i thought Django was a hilarious movie up to the half way point... After that i got a little ridiculous with all the blood and so on

p.s. nigger

it's a tarantino movie, you are guaranteed to see twice as much blood as there should realistically be.

Tarantino is to blood like Micheal Bay is to explosives... if that makes sense
