2. Saying things like "Germany had a shooting in 2009" shows how weak your position is, you have one example from three years ago, the US had 16 mass shootings last year alone. USA gun murder rate: 10.2 / 100,000 German gun murder rate: 1.10 / 100,000, not to mention accidental gun deaths. This isn't exactly rocket science

Absolutely the big picture is that Sandy Hook, Aurora theater, and the Brookfield Mall shootings were all carried out by people that were certifiably insane. In the case of the guy that shot up the Aurora he was crazy his psychiatrist knew it but was powerless to do anything to stop him she could proscribe him medication but couldn't make him take. She didn't have any power to have him committed or observed. Once again this isn't an issue of gun control, its a mental health care issue.

No - I WISH there was some way to know that a crime was imminent, so that those people could be apprehended before they do harm to others...interesting, you made me think of something:
- We live in a society where we interact with other people.
- That means we Could possibly (at some point) "interact" with a mass-shooter, or a drunk-diver, and be killed as a result of their actions.
- Since a "Pre-Crime" system is impossible, and we don't want to die because of dangerous shit in our society, we have to (as a society) do what we think is necessary to prevent such problems from happening.

So... for example - to prevent drunk driving incidents - What's the only foolproof way of doing that? To have absolutely NO Alcohol in your entire State! Personally, I would join you in that! I don't drink, and i usually despise people who do! So maybe, some people will get together and make the first completely alcohol-free state!

But think of the cost of enforcing that if the populace doesn't 100% agree! Someone makes some moonshine in their backyard, drinks it, kills someone on the road - And our perfect Utopia-where-nobody-will-ever-be-killed-by-drunk-driving is immediately a failure!

Same thing applies to guns:
1) It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to seal an area off from guns.
2) Guns are used for legitimate purposes as well.
3) If you ban guns, the 'assholes' of society who don't follow the rules will GET guns anyways!

You'd go through all that hassle just to stop a few mass-shooters, who do less damage than CAR ACCIDENTS AND HEART ATTACKS every year? No.
