On my gold version, I caught Ho-oh by using a **** ton of pokeballs. Two days later, I dropped my Gameboy, the crash deleted my save progress, and now my gold version isn't able to hold save data. What a sad day/

Sounds like the internal battery came loose from the fall. If you replace it, it should be able to save fine. :D

niether, but I have a good friend that has a wii
User avatar #216 to #203 - undeadwill (01/14/2013) [-]
Get a Pokemon game for the wii then get a controller or device to hook up to said game. Solves most problems

I remember playing Emerald in 2003, and I spent ages trying to catch Rayquaza, like hours, then eventually I got it. December 14th 2003. I was so happy that day because I caught it.

Also my sister was born but that doesn't matter as much
#146 to #107 - Ken M (01/06/2013) [-]
Emerald wasnt released until march 30th 2005. So lolno you werent playing emerald.

I remember when Pokemon red and blue first came out, I must of only been about 5 or 6, I tried catching a trainer's Alakazam with a masterball since none of my friends had the game to trade and evolve our Kadabra and didn't realise the outcome of what would happen.

I once tried to catch Groudon with a regular pokeball. I ran out of Hyper- and superballs and tried it with a Nest Ball.
It worked and everytime I fought with Groudon I had ******* hearts coming out of the poke ball...
User avatar #99 - youngchief (01/06/2013) [-]
No ******** I caught Giratina in Diamond and Pearl by just throwing a pokeball at it, no damage, status, or anything, first turn regular ass pokeball. Now what happened next is gonna sound ******** , but I swear it happened, I was on the DS lite when this happened while riding in a car, we hit a huge bump and my finger pushed the power button, FML.
#106 to #99 - yadabla (01/06/2013) [-]
I don't know why you're getting thumbs down. **** like this happens. I caught Groudon in pok├ęball, granted it was weakened a little but I threw it as a joke and it caught it. As for the turning off, also plausible, I turned off my DS lite SO many times because of the stupid way it was operated, I always mistook it for volume.

Right so I'm gonna go on funnyjunk just to lie about catching a pokemon in a video game, ok. Anyway aren't capture rates for legendaries in diamond and pearl easier anyway? I read before that it was the same as catching a chatot but didn't know if it was true
User avatar #111 to #110 - youngchief (01/06/2013) [-]
The only reason I tried it though was because it was taking forever to try and catch him and I was frustrated, just said **** it and threw the pokeball, could not replicate the results again though

I have a friend who has made it his solemn goal to catch every legendary in Black 2 (yes I play the new gen pokemon games) with only pokeballs. So far he hasn't failed and every time he catches them he gives me this look <----

Im trying the same with the nest ball though, My friend was all shocked when he saw that I caught Verizion and Zekrom in the first night.

Pic related, its the new master ball.

How is anyone able to forget to save, especially after doing something like catching Mewtwo with a pokeball? Especially after such a big achievement, it's hard to just FORGET to save.

he's not talking about the gameboy battery. The internal battery is the battery in the cartridge- it's what keeps your save file alive in a sense. By now, most peoples pokemon games from gen 1 (and i think 2) should be wiped. sadlyf :c
User avatar #113 to #93 - BigDoktor (01/06/2013) [-]
you can always replace the battery
#205 to #113 - xashun (01/07/2013) [-]
when the battery is removed or died, the save file also gets wiped. So all the hard work you put into your game however many years ago is gone D:
User avatar #68 - roflcopterkklol **User deleted account** (01/06/2013) [-]
Rookie mistake, a true pokemon master would know when the red light was about to go out.
User avatar #70 to #68 - trollraid (01/06/2013) [-]
He's not talking about the gameboy batteries mate. The internal battery is placed on the cartridge and is said to last +/- 10-15 years. When it dies, your savefile dies along with it. (as in, complete obliteration)
User avatar #89 to #70 - smittywrbmnjnsn (01/06/2013) [-]
So...why did they not implement a system in which the battery is charged while the game is played?
User avatar #73 to #70 - roflcopterkklol **User deleted account** (01/06/2013) [-]
as well as trading card game : /

User avatar #75 to #74 - roflcopterkklol **User deleted account** (01/06/2013) [-]
Surely you can replace the battery, just a matter of popping the rivet in the back.
User avatar #84 to #75 - basilbrush (01/06/2013) [-]
Once the battery is removed then the save file goes, there is a way around it, when you're replacing the battery, connect another up with extra wires, then take out the old one, put in a new one, remove the extra battery and wires and then the game will be intact, but just remember, if you don't, then your save files WILL go eventually.
User avatar #76 to #75 - trollraid (01/06/2013) [-]
That's true. Haven't tried so far though
#64 - mooghens (01/06/2013) [-]
Electronic components are dirt cheap, open up the cartridge, find the model number and order a couple home, solder old battery off, solder new one on. Without a functional battery the cartridge is worthless anyway. What do you have to lose?
User avatar #65 to #64 - sonoobish (01/06/2013) [-]
the fact that all the memory got erased and he still had masterball to use
User avatar #66 to #65 - mooghens (01/06/2013) [-]
Will at least restore the cartridges functionality. Beats having a useless peace of silicon.
User avatar #85 to #66 - basilbrush (01/06/2013) [-]
The game still works without the battery, you just can't store save files.
User avatar #197 to #85 - mooghens (01/06/2013) [-]
Honestly how much is a pokemon game worth if you can't save your progress?
