You do realise that the artificial sugars (namely aspartame) that's contained in diet fizzy drinks are probably just as bad for your body. They're neurotoxic and they literally poison your brain, aspartame is also in margerine. The best advice would be to avoid soft drinks altogether which I don't think is that bad of an idea, most fizzy drinks aren't even that great imo

I think they taste very different.

Because a great deal of people believe that the aspartame in diet coke is just as bad if not worse than the high fructose corn syrup in regular coke. Current research isn't really definite, however there are still problems like the phosphoric acid content. Phosphoric acid may leech calcium from the bones according to some studies. Then the caffeine which also leeches calcium from the bones. There is also chemical 4-methylimidazole which has been linked to cancer in mice and leukemia in rats.The whole zero calories thing may cause people to believe that they can drink as much of it as they want without any negative side effects, which is certainly wrong. maybe diet coke isn't as bad, and maybe it's worse, again the research is torn on that point. However it is certainly very unhealthy in both forms.
