Maybe some people find pokemon posts with aggressive dialogue funny, and it has nothing to do with bandwagons to them.

Jumping on a bandwagon is often not a conscious choice, so whether it was funny to them or not, many people in fact would thumb up due to the pokemon content.
Also, the correct sequence is:

You see, that's what I don't understand. People who find certain posts funny and thumb them up, but are hated/ridiculed because said post is popular. In other words, "Jumping on a bandwagon is often not a conscious choice". I know fully well that these posts are extremely popular, but I don't laugh at or like posts because of their popularity. I laugh at them because I find them funny. I'm not on the bandwagon, I just grew up with pokemon and therefore can relate to them, and I find it hard to understand how that is a bad thing. I'm also fully aware that there are a bunch of people who like these posts because they want to look cool, but I'm not one of those people. I like pokemon, not popularity.
