God damn people how many times must it be said. GUNS DONT KILL PEOPLE PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE. Without guns people will find a way if you really wanted to kill someone you would do it any way possible
#434 to #418 - John Cena (12/30/2012) [-]
Lol. Of course not, that's what mental help is for. the whole point is to make it HARDER to obtain weapons ; thus to kill someone. Of course if you're genuinely homicidal, chances are you're not going to stop. We're not retarded, we can ******* see that. It's called therapy. Guns don't kill people, I kill people who keep using that ******* argument.
User avatar #430 to #418 - carnagejc (12/30/2012) [-]
The main counter argument, which is perfectly valid, is that it is far easier to kill many more people with specific firearms. E.g. Assault Rifles
User avatar #485 to #430 - teufelshunde (12/30/2012) [-]
1. Rifles are rarely used in violent crimes in the US
2. There is no such thing as an assault rifle, assault is an intention not a category.
User avatar #503 to #496 - teufelshunde (12/30/2012) [-]
An AR15 is not a so called "assault rifle", since it's semi-automatic. An M16A1 is an "assault rifle", since it's semi-automatic and automatic.
User avatar #505 to #503 - carnagejc (12/30/2012) [-]
I really, really don't care.
User avatar #424 to #418 - Chas (12/30/2012) [-]
It's still a lot easier to kill someone with a gun than a knife, and you can kill more people more quickly with a gun. I suppose you're right, guns don't kill people, people kill people, buy people with guns kill other people effectively.
User avatar #436 to #424 - ninjasquirle (12/30/2012) [-]
People seem to not realize gun control doesn't mean no guns it just mean making things like assault rifle hard to get including psychological background checks and having to keep gun keys on your person so no one else can access a gun cabinet. Australia implemented a new system that had five categories for guns based on how deadly they are with the pistols, handguns, rifles being fairly easy to acquire while military grade weapons like assault rifles which are designed to kill humans are near impossible to get. The result? since 1996 there has been no school shootings since.
P.S. alot of automatic assault rifles were illegal to own in the U.S. until 2004 since 1986 when a ban was lifted, people seemed to get along fine before then. Again I'm not saying guns should be illegal but does anyone really need TAR-21 for self defense the thing is meant for intense war fighting not defending yourself from a mountain lion or a couple of nig nogs.
User avatar #433 to #424 - renzard (12/30/2012) [-]

The point is, people are gonna find ways to kill each other no matter what. Guns are just a different way.
User avatar #569 to #433 - elyiia (12/30/2012) [-]
No one died in that attack. Guns make it far easier.

I believe that any active service member in the military 18+ should be allowed to drink legally. If you are allowed to die for our country, then you should be allowed to get drunk for our country.
#399 to #389 - nexdemise ONLINE (12/29/2012) [-]
You think they don't drink in the military ?
#402 to #399 - jakylxxx (12/29/2012) [-]
I know they do, I did when I was in the military when I was 18, I'm saying, it should be legal.
#409 to #402 - nexdemise ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
I agree to that, you fight for the country you should be able to get pissed drunk. Hell active duty and retired soldiers should drink for 50% off everywhere.
#413 to #409 - jakylxxx (12/30/2012) [-]
I will definately drink to that.

Can someone please explain to me what is the ******* deal with americans and the whole "our military is over there protecting our freedom" I mean, like if they didn't go there invade those little ****** countries they invade those countries would instead invade the U.S?

Honest doubt, it confuses me, don't hate me and please just tell me if I'm just missing something here.

This post has nothing to do with the fact that our troops are in the middle east. The fact that we have a standing military is what protects our freedom. If we didn't have a constant military presence, someone would take us over and take away our freedom.
User avatar #422 to #387 - guiguito (12/30/2012) [-]
wait are you serious? let me laugh even harder
#408 to #387 - leonjoker (12/30/2012) [-]
I know this post has nothing to do with what I'm asking, but I had the doubt and since it has to do with the army it just seemed appropriate.
I'm not talking about the military within the country, that one is obvious, but I've seen it so many times people saying "you better respect our troops in the middle east, they are protecting our freedom" that's what I don't understand since it's bsically the U.S taking away their freedom over there.
User avatar #420 to #408 - eloso (12/30/2012) [-]
Yes I know it's dumb. Trust me. I'm in the Marine Corps and I don't even know what I'm doing over there. Getting out there is far past due.
All I was saying is that this post was saying that the military as a whole protects our citizens so they can enjoy the freedoms they have left.
User avatar #383 to #376 - secretdestroyers (12/29/2012) [-]
Yeah, our military's gotten a bit out of hand....but, hey, we protect our own liberties by robbing other countries of their liberty.

Then when certain countries get mad at us for having liberty, we take away our own liberties so there's nothing for them to hate. Makes perfect sense, right? Ah, America.
User avatar #371 - Sethorein (12/29/2012) [-]
Those 19 year olds aren't the ones he wants to be gun free... he's talking about the 19 year olds getting drunk off their asses and thinking of stupid **** to do o_o

my friends and I have had some pretty close shaves with death or serious injury, if we had guns I can only imagine what **** we'd have done xD
User avatar #361 - stupidffff (12/29/2012) [-]
Here's a question: For what purpose do you need to own an assault rifle for?
User avatar #372 to #361 - dagreatmax (12/29/2012) [-]
Because in some countries you can't trust people. In Canada, there is a place where NO ONE locks their doors that's how much we trust each other, if people weren't so ****** up and didn't go around thieving and **** some places would be more peaceful and therefore you wouldn't need an assault rifle.

Those soldiers are trained to protect your country. Those who shot the kids are psychos. Know the difference. Give guns only to those who are mentally stable.
Then if they retire, take. away. their. guns.
