To me it just proves that there's something wrong with society. You guys will hate a song for it's lyrics, but love a song that 90% of people don't know what the lyrics even is. On top of that, most people like it for the music video, but that makes them think the actual song itself is really good, and they'll listen to it on the radio because they love the video so much.

I don't like the song at all. Not to say I hate it, after all idk the lyrics. I even have songs on my phone that are in Japanese, French, and partially German even though I don't speak any of those languages fluently. I just like the music itself and/or the way the person sings even if they could be singing about cleaning bicycle tires for all I know. I'm just proud that the YouTube video that got the most views ever wasn't something offensively stupid.
The people who speak your language might like it for comedy reasons for thinking it's just silly comedy. People who don't understand it might think it's beautiful.
For example I have a song on my phone in English called "Thank God I'm Pretty". It has beautiful peacefully charming music, the male version of the song has someone with a gorgeous voice, but the song is meant as a joke. So every time I listen to it I think "If I let someone who doesn't speak English listen to this they'd probably think they are listening to a heartfelt inspirational song."

What the hells the big deal? It's a song, it's got media popularity, people are supposed to treat a song like that, there's nothing wrong with that. The song doesn't make you a better person, it doesn't enlighten you, if people want to like it because of the reasons you said, which, in the first place, are so off base, there's nothing wrong with that at all.
Alright, I understand what you mean now. But the problem I see with that is that there is only 1 foreign song you can relate that statement to, and there's really no reason to hate it outside of the natural tastes of a person. By that I mean that the lyrics aren't disgustingly vulgar or all too repetitive.
It was the right place at the right time, that's all music has ever been. The song doesn't invoke any reason to really hate it if you put aside views on society, naturally this is a backwards thing to say because of everyone's varying musical taste, but you understand what I'm saying.
