Seriously, this. Perhaps not using a belt or anything like that, but a good slap on the wrist or butt works wonders for misbehaving kids.

You guys seriously are calling a small physical punishement "severe" or "painfull"? Of course it hurts, but that is what is meant for. If the child sees doing something bad hurts him then he won´t keep doing it. I´m not saying to hit a child for anything. Just a little slap overtime to teach him. That, the hability to put a kid in his place when he deserves it, shows you are a caring father. My dad used to give me slaps in the back of my head when I did something bad, and through that I learned the meaning of responsability. Don´t be that much of little yelling girls, guys. It´s just a little slap, it´s mostly meant to teach, not to hurt the kid. No caring father wants to hurt his son.

Actually, no.

In the end I killed my father and I spent 6 years in a juvenile home.

Doesn't work, have you seen black parenting skills? Dey whoop da chap off yo lips.
User avatar #96 - imakejewburgers (12/28/2012) [-]
Yes, this is very logical. Teach your kids that when someone doesn't listen the correct thing to do is hurt them. That will really cut down on violent assholes.
User avatar #92 - kyoutu (12/28/2012) [-]
Sorry but it's ******** , I was punished physically and I was still a little **** at school.
I only grew up when I moved out of my dads place and was forced into responsibility.

the spanking is what creates the kids on the bottom... they hate the punishment becuase they dont understand why theyre being punished, so they grow up to just want to rebel against the thing that causes it
#88 - rbpwn (12/28/2012) [-]
Yeah because severe and painful punishment on Trivial mistakes is a ******* good thing

Let's put people who J-Walk in the electric chair, and burn people at the stake as agents of Satan for being left handed

Also every single person on this planet has the same mentality and there is only one reason for people to do anything
User avatar #97 to #88 - drolejonque (12/28/2012) [-]
Since when is burning left-handed spawns of Satan severe???
User avatar #103 to #97 - rbpwn (12/28/2012) [-]
I wanted to say "Burning women at the stake as witches for being better than a man at something" but I remembered that never happens

Lefties was the next thing I had in mind
User avatar #105 to #103 - drolejonque (12/28/2012) [-]
Dude, it's okay, I can make that joke, I have a left-handed friend.
#95 to #88 - zgbgydug (12/28/2012) [-]
The post never suggested that the punishment was for something small, nor that it was severe.
User avatar #100 to #95 - rbpwn (12/28/2012) [-]
If you're spanking a kid, it didn't blow up the Whitehouse

It probably spilled some ******* milk

And yeah

Putting a kid through that much physical pain ( for them) and giving a psychological scar like that is a pretty ******* severe thing to do
#107 to #100 - zgbgydug (12/28/2012) [-]
So you're suggesting that a kid is only capable of doing extremely minor things, and that if a parent uses spanking as a punishment, they do it for everything the kid does wrong no matter its severity?
User avatar #113 to #107 - rbpwn (12/28/2012) [-]
No

You're misinterpreting examples as absolutes to try and prove me wrong.
All you're doing is acting like a jackass and trying to change what I said.

Children almost never get the chance to commit crimes that are serious for adults.
So yeah, kids don't really get into hit and runs or rob Liquor stores.

And no, adults do it because that's what their parents did and they don't know how to be a parent at all. They only rely on a thousand year old punishment because they're not competent enough to come up with an appropriate punishment.

#118 to #113 - zgbgydug (12/28/2012) [-]
Your also giving me absolutes.

There are parents who never use physical punishment and there are parents who use it for every situation.

Just because some do it wrong doesn't mean there aren't some who use it only when necessary to teach the kid a lesson.

My parents never used physical punishment and I was a little **** . At one point I threw rocks at my school's window and shattered it. Dad decided that "time-out" wasn't working, and gave me the belt. Yeah it hurt like **** then, but I never did something that stupid again. Are there other ways to teach children to to **** around like that? Of course. But that doesn't mean that physical punishment is wrong under absolutely any circumstance.

I'm sorry if you believe that I'm arguing simply for the sake or being a douche.
#85 - melonwaffle (12/28/2012) [-]
I think this kid is enjoying this punishment too much
User avatar #84 - qauronexoforce (12/28/2012) [-]
Its annoying that the old values of English countries have being forgotten and we have **** like this happening.
User avatar #81 - kikx (12/28/2012) [-]
A good spank actually works. But use it properly. When I was a kid, If I did something I wasn't supposed to knowingly then I'd get told off. Do it twice, same thing. Do it three times, then I would get a fat smack over the cheek. And that **** hurt. And I would cry like a little girl. But after it would wear off I would look back and think about what I did. And using child logic, I came to the conclusion - do something bad/get a slap. How to keep your cheek from hurting as hell? Don't do what you're not supposed to do.
#76 - anonymous (12/27/2012) [-]
Now, by "this" do you mean allowing a father to be involved in their child's life?
User avatar #75 - theonecalledtony (12/27/2012) [-]
Hell, my dad took time out of his busy day growing up to blister my butt.
#72 - divinedpk (12/27/2012) [-]

Not if you do it right. If you only do it when they do a bad thing. Then they know bad things are bad.
User avatar #71 - haloforlife (12/27/2012) [-]
Funny think is you're not allowed to hit your kids, social services take them away if you do.
User avatar #70 - mcrut (12/27/2012) [-]
violence provokes violence, spanking only makes the kid think that hitting is the answer

There'd also be more stuff to fap to...
