To be honest ,there are a lot of quality family values that are lost. Parents don't teach responsibility or priorities anymore. They just feed their kids, buy them stuff, and tell them to go to school. As a child, I was talk to respect others, to stay away from gangs, as well as the importance of education, staying away from drugs.alcohol, and anyone who offers me any. There are other things like morality and the value of life that are not taught to many kids these days. Parenting went out the window.

take out the "these days" part and replace it with "forever throughout all of human history" and you'll be close.

The difference between spanking your child and beating them is HUGE. I got beat. Like full blown, punched in the face because I forgot to take the trash out beat. That is wrong. Spanking your child for acting like a spoiled cluster cunt is right and I agree with it

You hit them, they'll remember the beating, they remember the beating they're afraid of you, if they're afraid of you, they'll hate you, if they hate you they'll rebel, and end up like these douchebags. Simple math.

It's been scientifically conjectured that spanking children leads to lower IQs.

Really? Really FJ? Spanking doesn't work and is suddenly child abuse? When did FJ become such a ******* useless pussy white knight fag site? I have cousins that are being raised by helicopter parents that believe in that ****. They also believe that Harry Potter is evil and Pokemon advocates belief in the actual theory of evolution. Their twelve year old son gropes women and drowns children and their sixteen year old daughter is a lying, selfish slut.

Spank your kids, faggots. Teach them who is in ******* control.

It's mostly subjective, but I think I'm the sensible one here. I wasn't really beat as a child, but looking at my cousins makes me wish I was, and that they were too. I want to beat the **** out of them myself.

Sorry to break it to ya, buddy, but that's the nature of psychology. You either add to a theory or break it, doesn't matter how many years you've got behind the research. No psychological theory stays in practice permanently. Look up Freud and then look up Skinner, do me a favor and compare and contrast the two. Remember that they were both logical practices in their time for a good number of years. After, come back and tell me which one makes more sense to you.

ok, first off, don't be a pretentious douchebag who thinks they're the only one who knows about two of the most famous psychologists in recorded history. That said, yea, I know about them, and both perspectives are still considered valid in many ways. Science isn't about coming up with theories and then throwing them away when you come up with a new one. Most of the concepts that Freud talked about are still used, just not some of his more extreme ideas. Same with Skinner. But guess what the funniest part is. The theory that spanking does jack **** is the new theory that evolved out of existing theories and if history has shown anything, most of its precepts will be around for a very, very long time and will be added to and have small changes, but the framework was already set years ago.

Also funny, Skinner believed in positive reinforcement rather than negative sanctions.

Really? No way? You mean they're BOTH considered valid scientific theories, despite the fact that one was meant to contradict the other? I daresay, I think this pretentious douche-bag has taught anon something! Spanking isn't going out of style any time soon, and you shouldn't count your chickens before they hatch, because I doubt it will over some hippy theory that has just recently come into practice, and just as you inadvertently stated, it's been in practice twice as long. So, not counting subjectivity, physical discipline has twice the scientific backing through years of practice than any theory meant to disprove it has.

Let's all go with the expert opinion rather than your anecdotal "this is how it was for me" approach on this one.

Because the people who actually study this stuff for a living will tell you that when you spank a kid, they don't remember the lesson, they remember the beating. They see you as someone to listen to out of fear. They don't learn lessons with spanking, they learn to not cross you.

If you were spanked and you turned out ok, it probably wasn't because you were spanked.

Well, they were kids before so doesn't that kind of give them a slight understanding of the concept? Maybe their situation being raised has left obvious marks on them that they can interpret and explain? But what do I know, I'm just an Anon.

Beating your kids don't teach them a lesson. Discipline does, and discipline doesnt only mean beating. Beating will most likely make it worse.

I couldn't agree more. I was never spanked or beaten. not once did my mother lay a hand on me, and she never had to either. She made her role and mine very clear without threatening or mentioning any physical punishment, and I love and respect her even more for it.
