If we were to put one person to death soon we would put other to death. The standards for the death penalty would soon decrease and even people with minor crimes would be killed.

As bad as this sounds there are people who have committed worse crimes who are alive.

The US has had many situations like this, where innocents are killed by someone going on a rampage with a gun. Do they change the gun laws? no.
BUT ONE LITTLE KID HAS A KINDER EGG AND CHOKES AND NOW IT'S ILLEGAL!

You say you're free in your country, but when every single person around you has a confined weapon are you really going to say to my face that you're okay with that? that a random person can kill you at anytime? To be free is to live without fear. But you carry a gun, just in case someone else pulls a gun on you.

If you make guns illegal all these shooting would be a lot less common.

But I'm a dreamer, the government would never take the time to do that as it would require altering the constitution. Plus 1000's of people would lose their jobs.

Just my opinion INB4 red thumbs.

Someone with more ambition to actually do stuff get the stats for the number of people car accidents have killed versus shootings; I'm assuming its WAY higher. Say something like, "Ban cars, too?"
#103 to #93 - defender (12/15/2012) [-]
Making guns illegal? You see criminals don't follow the law and still get guns, all you would do is take guns away from the good people of society. Read the news some nut job in china when on a stabbing rampage at a elementary with a knife.
#102 to #93 - N. Korean citizen (12/15/2012) [-]
Leaving ourselves defenseless and giving more power to the government isn't the way to solve things. whether it is legal or illegal, men like the one who did that horrible act will find a way on doing it. if someone is that hellbound to do that kind of evil, laws wont be the thing stopping them. I refuse to lay down and be killed all because the government and stupid liberals want me to have no protection. the police cant be everywhere at once. it takes10 minutes on average for an officer to show up to a scene, wont take that chance.
User avatar #100 to #93 - MUTHAFUDGE (12/15/2012) [-]
Guns aren't allowed in London England, and that place is fuckin horrible...just sayin.
#149 to #100 - N. Korean citizen (12/15/2012) [-]
I don't think London is too bad, you never hear of shootings like this in the UK. It's harder to get guns here because of the ultra strict laws on them. Hell even having a toy plastic gun in public can get you arrested. I am not saying that there is -no- gun crime here, of course there is some. If criminals really want to get their hands on them that badly then they will find a way, it is just a lot easier in the US to get one, thus more people have them, and the more people with guns the more gun crime. There is a lot knife crime in the UK though... which sucks.
User avatar #155 to #149 - MUTHAFUDGE (12/15/2012) [-]
Ya, there's no guns where I live either (Canada) but people get stabbed instead. I hear every week about someone else getting stabbed, and two days ago, someone even got jumped in his home by three guys with a baseball bat. The fact of the matter is that we're humans, and we are capable of killing in more ways than just with a gun, and if you wanted to stop all the killing, you would have to basically ban everything. Hell, I could pick up my guitar and go on a mass killing spree with it. Not to mention, no matter what, people will still get their hands on guns.
User avatar #99 to #93 - phunkyzilla (12/15/2012) [-]
>the government would never take the time to do that

that's because it's unconstitutional anon
User avatar #95 to #93 - CaptinAwesome (12/15/2012) [-]
SOOOOO, banning guns will make all the gun-crimes just go away?
Cause ya know, banning heroin, meth, cocaine, made all of those problems go away.
Next thing ya know there will be a "War on Guns"
the sense that will make if it ever comes to that.
AND, if there is a Banning of all of my precious guns, i shall be a criminal, as with my entire family.
Sounds like the american government.
#104 to #95 - N. Korean citizen (12/15/2012) [-]
so you think banning guns will have no effect what so ever?
To think that it would remove gun-crimes entirely, is not only naive, it's stupid.
Banning guns would greatly reduce killings. I think even you have to realize that.
But the way you put it? It sounds like you wont ban guns if it *only* saves some.
There will always be people breaking the law, there will always be people who refuse to live by the rules.
... What am I doing, I fucking hate americans, you guys are the most retarded nation on earth, you used to be cool.
You dense motherfuckers.
#119 to #104 - muffinspecial (12/15/2012) [-]
I don't know, it might actually increase killings for a while, considering they would have to get a warrant for 90% of homes to look for guns. It's honestly more trouble than it's worth.
User avatar #108 to #104 - battledude (12/15/2012) [-]
your the dense mother fucker

take away the defense of random people means any criminal that gets his hand on a gun can go on a killing spree with no interruptions until police come
User avatar #106 to #104 - CaptinAwesome (12/15/2012) [-]
I cannot see a reduction in gun related deaths just because of a gun ban. i see an increase.
Mainly because criminals will know law abiding people will not have a weapon to defend themselves. thus, increasing the testicle size of criminals.

I was at work when I heard the news. The TV in the break room always plays CNN and I was in there eating my sammich and it started talking about it and my manager came in and we both watched it, my break was only 20 minutes but we ended up watching it for almost an hour. She started crying and I felt sick. Usually stories on the news don't phase me but he shot kids with an automatic assault rifle because of some bullshit with his mom...Little kids who meant no harm to him. Little kids who didn't deserve it. I swear we need some better gun regulations, I don't want them illegal but better controlled. I don't understand this world sometimes.

1. Citizens can not own automatic rifles. They are fixed to semi at the most
2. Shit like this wouldnt happen if people carried guns. And dont tell that will cause more violence. Ever heardof the black market? Not that hard to buy a gun
User avatar #637 to #94 - ninjastarthrow (12/16/2012) [-]
Shit like this wouldn't happen if there were no guns at all but I don't want that. I just want smarter, well trained, police officers to be the only people allowed to carry them in a holster. I want a police officer at every school to be the guy to protect our children, not you dumb rednecks who think you're John Wayne. A guy came into work with a glock on his belt looking for his wife who was a manager. I asked if he was a cop and he said no so I avoided that guy for the rest of the day. He was fat, bald and he looked like he was not fast at all. He looked like he'd be the first to be killed in this situation. Plus automatic weapons are so easy to get it's disgusting.
User avatar #96 to #94 - CaptinAwesome (12/15/2012) [-]
i own 3 automatic rifles, your logic is flawed
User avatar #58 to #56 - Keleth (12/15/2012) [-]
he didn't even use a rifle first of all, he left it in his car, and it was not automatic. he used 2 handguns, all 3 were legally owned and i REALLY doubt he has a class 3 permit. that shit is really expensive and you bet your ass they do homework on you before passing out a class 3.
User avatar #59 to #58 - Keleth (12/15/2012) [-]
2nd of all...if a principal or a teacher had a concealed carry, and of course knew how to fucking shoot and not have any chance of endangering the kids, it would have ended so fucking quickly. instead the guy just walked right in without any resistance.

tldr : good honest people can't have guns.
User avatar #109 to #59 - iamthou (12/15/2012) [-]
not to mention, a concealed carry means that you have been trained in the proper use of handling and firing a gun. As well as multiple psych tests to ensure that you are mentally capable of handling said firearm
User avatar #65 to #59 - notsixroller (12/15/2012) [-]

Okay hear this, you just took the shooter out who killed a bunch of preschoolers. You think you're a hero. Cool whatever, but I'm a cop and I walk into this building full of dead kids and I look up and see you with a gun I'M GOING TO DROP YOU. Do you not get that? That shit happens all the time. You think your reflexes are that good? Your gun is useless when a guy has his gun locked and loaded on you unless you have yours on him first. They thought this guy was there to visit his mom. They let him in and he executed them before his rampage. If the principal had a gun he was executed before he could have been able to pull it. You think that won't happen to you just because you think you're John Wayne? Sadly mistaken my friend. My grandpa was a cop and he said he almost killed a tweeker who was going insane because he reached into his jacket to grab his wallet and he shot him in the shoulder thinking he was reaching for a gun. That shit happens all the time.
User avatar #244 to #71 - Keleth (12/15/2012) [-]
bro....chance of stopping a guy with a gun unarmed...nearly 0%....chances of stopping when im loaded with a 45...MUCH BETTER. if your not an idiot, youll put down the gun when you see cops. don't reach into jacket or shit, JUST FUCKING FREEZE AND DO WHAT THEY SAY.

He used a Bushmaster .223 AR-15, don't give me that shit "Hey if the principal was armed he could have saved the day and been a hero." Everyone wants to be a hero, that guy was wearing Kevlar under his shirt how do you know the principal would have killed him. To tell you the truth I'd trust a police officer with a gun a lot more than some hick with a concealed weapons permit. If I was a cop I'd prefer if every civilian around me wasn't armed, how could I tell who was the shooter and who is a civilian when everyone around me is holding a pistol? He stole these weapons.
#77 to #64 - penguinicus (12/15/2012) [-]
Kevlar or not, gettin shot in the chest is gonna knock the sucker down. Kevlar makes it so you don't die, but that stuff is still gonna hurt like a mofo
User avatar #79 to #77 - ninjastarthrow (12/15/2012) [-]
Okay well The Principal was executed. Even if he had a gun the guy would have killed him before he could have whipped his out. The guy executed The Principal and The Counselor before he started the rampage. More guns is not the answer, you think you're going to be a hero. You have your gun out and you kill the guy, cops arrive and see a bunch of dead kids and you holding a gun. They know that this guy has already killed 20 people surrender may not be an option. How do you know the cops will know you're not the shooter. What if they shot you then found out later? Whoops looks like you're dead because you watch too many John Wayne and James Bond to know better.
User avatar #83 to #79 - penguinicus (12/15/2012) [-]
Ummmm calm your tits/dick?

Just sayin that kevlar wouldn't completely protect a guy.
And if i just had to shoot a crazy dude who tried to kill me, i'd drop my gun pretty fast and be dang grateful i'm not dead. I wouldn't run around the school yelling and waving the gun around
User avatar #86 to #83 - ninjastarthrow (12/15/2012) [-]
Hey I'm, I'm pointing out the flaws in your argument. I know Kevlar wouldn't protect from everything but what if it did? There is a lot of factors you have to put into it. Trust me I don't like arguing about this I own a gun too but 20 preschoolers died yesterday. My little brother is in preschool I had a dream last night where that happened at his school. I woke up really scared okay? I may not like kids but they don't deserve that. I just hate it when people think they're Han Solo or John Wayne and can out shoot someone who has a gun on them already. I think realistically.
User avatar #90 to #86 - penguinicus (12/15/2012) [-]
And sorry to hear about havin a bro in pre-k...

this is a nightmare for folks like you and i understand the freakin out thing
User avatar #89 to #86 - penguinicus (12/15/2012) [-]
You think negatively...

what if kevlar protected them from everything? no
what if one lucky teacher with a weapon saved the day?

Sure, it might not have been able to save any of those kids, but there would've at least been a slightly higher chance of saving even one of them if ANY of the adults in that school carried. And that's all i'd want. Even a slightly better chance to protect those kids.

Wouldn't you want to try to do anything to make sure your brother is safer?
User avatar #632 to #89 - ninjastarthrow (12/16/2012) [-]
Having every teacher armed would not make me feel safe at all. Again the only person I trust with a firearm is a well trained police officer.

as long as there are idiots out there, or a chance for someone to just snap, things like this will happen. It is sad, yes, but unfortunately it is the world we live in, and I don't see it getting any better. We constantly find new ways to harm each other, yet no one finds a way to protect each other. This world is already too far gone, and all we can do is sit, wait, and hope for the best.
User avatar #60 to #57 - ninjastarthrow (12/15/2012) [-]
I agree there is no saving this world. Some people care more about their guns than they do the safety of others. 20 children and 8 of their teachers and school staff were massacred yesterday. For no reason other than some dick lock had a grudge against his mom. I know people are going to get pissed at me and say "Hurr durr guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people." believe it or not, most of the shootings actually happen with guns that aren't registered. Its those who buy them off the streets, or find a friend or family members gun that end up doing this, and all everyone else see's is an easy dollar to be made.

Although, chances are, I might snap one day and go crazy. I have aspergers so I get the creepy thoughts (the social shyness/fear is what keeps most from doing anything bad) and my bloodline seems to have a lot of killers in it. If I do go crazy though, I promise no kids will be hurt, only those who I think deserve to die.
