Just had to do a presentation in psych about nicotine. The nicotine affects your dopamine levels whenever you smoke which is why you feel so grumpy now that you quit. Eventually, your body will return to and accept its natural dopamine levels.

if you are still smoking cigars you didn't quit smoking

I smoke cigars as in one every 3 to 4 months
#228 to #163 - zaeter (12/11/2012) [-]
Cigars and cigarettes are two totally different things. Inhaling the smoke is what causes most of the damage because it destroys the alveoli in your lungs by blocking them up with tar and other toxins. Smoking a cigar, while larger in tobacco content, only damages the gums and teeth. Since you aren't inhaling the cigar smoke (or you shouldn't) you aren't receiving the nicotine rush that you get from a cigarette.

Therefore, yes beardman (nice name btw) is still smoking something, it's not the same as smoking a cigarette, nor as harmful. Cigars, especially in moderation are far less harmful.

Plus I doubt he smokes cigars everyday

when you started smoking you didnt get straight into 20 a day did you ?

you should slowly and gradually quit just like you slowly and gradually started, that way it wont be so difficult for you.

Then you are one of the few, it's kinda like with the patches it helps for a little bit.. but then your tolerance goes back up and the need for nicotine gets worse. I just went ahead and quit and let my body flush out. After 3 days of being ill, it was easy.

Question about the recent Colorado Cannabis Act (or w/e it's called). Do they sell marijuana at lots of places, such as gas stations or the like? Is it ordered? Are there special stores?

Sorry for noobiness, just want to hear it first hand, the online newspapers don't really give you a real account.
#157 to #152 - gimmetheporn (12/11/2012) [-]
Of course, my good man!

It is only sold in places called dispensaries. Basically, they're specially licensed to grow and sell, and most even take your plants for special deals. They're fucking everywhere too.

Legalizing marijuana didn't turn it into something you could buy by the pack, it just removed the restriction of requiring a medical card to purchase from a dispensary.
User avatar #161 to #157 - brettyoke ONLINE (12/11/2012) [-]

Pall's are cheap though, but a smoke after a couple of drinks is really nice. Unless you've never smoked before then I wouldn't advise it.

I live in NC...out of curiosity...how do you pronounce Pall Mall? There are some people here that pronounce it Paul-Mall. And there are others that pronounce it Pale-Male. I personally pronounce it Paul-Mall.
User avatar #156 to #149 - sockprague ONLINE (12/11/2012) [-]
Technically both are correct, it comes from a 17th century ball game that was a precursor to Croquet. But "Paul Mall" I find to be more common, "Pail Maile" doesn't really sound like a cheap Brit cigarette.

I smoke cigars for relaxation purposes and because I enjoy the taste of certain brands. (Al capone's mini cigars rum dipped flavor are probably my favorite) and my buddy smokes cigs because they give a relaxing effect that you could probably compare to 1 to 2 puffs of weed. Not anything that can fuck you up but a small rush to relax you.

well marijuana alters the chemicals in your brain, while cigarettes do nothing.

I'm sorry, have you ever heard of Nicotine?
User avatar #111 to #101 - AccWasLost (12/11/2012) [-]
Ah yes. It doesn't affect one's brain as much as THC does, though. (Yes, I do know they aren't the same and do different things.) It stimulates and relaxes at the same time. But in my opinion, it wouldn't be worth it. Nicotine is highly addictive, physically and mentally. The cons outweigh the pros.
User avatar #114 to #111 - yusay ONLINE (12/11/2012) [-]
