The world ends because people think the world is going to end

what gets me is that at 12:00 pm dec 12 2012 I'm scheduled for exploratory surgery to find out if I've got prostate cancer or not.

Y2K was supposed to be the end of the world too and nothing happened. People believed it but there was no mass killing or stealing or destruction. At least not on a global or even national scale. And the thing about Y2K was that it made more sense for that day to be the end of the world then for 12/21. At least Y2K had scientific reasoning behind it. It was a legitimate reason for people to be afraid. 12/21 is more of a hoax than anything. The fact that anyone is taking it seriously is not only absurd, but it reminds us that the human race really is on the steepest downslope of intelligence it's ever been on.
