One of the things Mitsubishi never considered is "pajero" in Spanish means wanker.

In France, the Toyota MR2 was simply renamed MR. Because MR2 sounds like " **** " in French.
#62 to #53 - anonymous (11/30/2012) [-]
Originally named after Leopardus Pajeros, they did realize this and renamed it Mitsubishi Montero in Spanish speaking countries, and also in the US

In the UK it was sold as Mitsubishi Shogun

its because the word volkswagon is made out of 2 words: volks and wagon. in germany volk means people and wagon means car. they wanted to create a car for the people so they called it volkswagon.

Lowlife thugs have Swag, where as grown men prefer to have Class. I don't think Volswagen wants to be grouped in with a bunch of teenage thugs who can't even afford a car anyways. Just saying.

Except for the Volkswagen UP which is targeted at younger hip people and the whole trend about downsizing and mini cars.

But thank god they haven't made any bad marketing decisions whit that one... (

It was a joke meant to make people who say, "Swag", look even more like idiots, but it's just short for another word.

Or maybe it's simply because they know that everyone who uses the term "swag" isn't old or rich enough to buy a car.
User avatar #101 to #40 - wilddittoappears (11/30/2012) [-]
in austria most likely everyone, who has a VW Golf, is a #YOLOSWAGLULZ-fag.
the swag commercial would fit pretty good... sadly..
User avatar #38 - lorddotcom (11/30/2012) [-]
History time!
Volks= German for "peoples'"
Wagen= German for "wagon" or "car"
The Volkswagen was a cheaply made car that everyone could afford while Germany was being rebuilt after WWI. And who came up with this idea? Adolf Hitler.
#42 to #38 - comradewinter ONLINE (11/30/2012) [-]
Not really. Hitler might have come up with the idea of having a cheap type of car that the people could use, but he knew nothing of car mechanics. To say that the Volkswagen is his idea is like saying the Americans invented space travel.

Or, it is because they, like all German auto manufacturers
insist on translating their German marketing slogans
into other languages, in such a way that they make no sense whatsoever.
#30 - comehonorfacetwice (11/30/2012) [-]
Probably because the marketing people have some sort of actual education...

Or aren't YOLOing swagfags

People in advertising generally have some sort of college degree (as opposed to the silly ***** working at McDonald's who never graduated high school).

Its like 5 AM here so sorry for any spelling errors.

#10 - pharoahthree (11/30/2012) [-]
