because you will get arrested and spend the rest of your life in prison. And if you believe that this life is all you have, then you aren't going to throw it away like that.

Just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I don't have morals.

if anything, this proves that religious people are immoral because they only do what's right because of fear of god/satan.

Assuming that being Christian/Catholic/Generally believing in God means being a good person.

It actually has nothing to do with being good. It just means believing in God and doing what he says for you to do.

Actually, if you skip all the faith stuff, the Bible has a VERY good set of moral values layed out.

I didn't say they were ALL good.

The Bible was never meant to be taken literally, it's supposed to be open to interpretation.

To be honest, the reason I'm not a christian anymore is because I read the Bible.

I think a lot of people would agree.

but the point is that there is no explanation for being good or bad, as there is no defining example of what good and bad is.

The simplest way of putting it is that even Christians argue amongst themselves about what is right and wrong. Morals differ from person to person even if they believe in the same God(s)

But look at how you put it. Seeing as there is a divine being(God, in this case) and a promise of a better afterlife(Heaven) you should be a good person. But if you don't believe in a divine being(Atheists) then what's stopping you from murder, crimes, and what-not.
You're only good because you'll get into heaven.
Sounds like a rather selfish excuse to have "Morals and Ethics" to me.

Morals are instinctual, a species will not prosper if they endlessly kill each other. Which is why cannibalism is rare even in the animal kingdom.

That doesn't mean he doesn't have morals

Getting on the topic of religion:

I don't know what I believe in. I have this thing where I can't believe in anything that I can't see/feel. I don't feel a real need to have religion in my life, but that's just my opinion.

I don't want to say I'm athiest for multiple reasons. First, athiests are always bashed and what not and they give themselves a horrible reputation, and its generally assumed that athiests are completely against anything god related, which I'm not.

I don't want to consider myself agnostic because that would infer that I believe there is some sort of higher power that can't be explained. I also don't believe in that.

The only thing I believe in is the truth. What I can prove.

I don't want to believe in any relgion because I'm not educated enough on any religion or lack thereof to make an uniformed decsision, so I just don't.

I hope that makes sense

Christians people here's a food for thought for you guys.

Do you follow EVERY rule in the Bible?

If not, why not?
To brutal or savage you say? But it's in the Bible. Word of God or book of God.
God made the rules and you should kinda follow them.

But if you do not do that, you've made up your own moral without the need of your God. So now you've created a new set of morals for yourself like any other good person would have done when they encounter such savage laws in a holy book.

This moral is most likely better than what God had in mind as well. So ask yourself this, do you REALLY need God to be a good person?

how about because i don't want to be a terrible ******* person? because i have some compassion in my heart and wouldn't want to end someone else's life or take them away from their family. does this mean the only reason christians don't kill people is because they are afraid of being punished for it? that's kinda ****** up.
