I'm pretty sure Spongebob just takes place on an alien planet where the dominant species just happen to look like giant sea life. I mean, in early episodes they at least tried to make it make sense, like with the joke with the fire not working when Spongebob and Patrick ran away, or Goo Lagoon being made of goo instead of water, hence acting like water while underwater. But now it just doesn't make sense; for example, why can things even fall underwater? Why doesn't everyone just swim instead of walk? Why doesn't food get soggy? Etc etc etc

Actually, Spongbob takes place in Bikini Atoll (ya know Bikini Bottom), where we tested our nuclear weapons. This proven by all the talking sea life (Nuclear radiation causing mutations), and the fact that in the production notes that is where the show is set. So boom. Can't explain the ****** up physics, but I can explain the talking animals and the amount of explosions that are always nuclear and **** .

fresh water can sit on top of salt water under certain circumstances, so besides the fact that the crab is dressed in a suit you could get a real life similar scenario

well, if you can make money under the sea, surely that money can withstand whatever the liquid the sea is of, now that "water" should be another kind of liquid denser than the sea liquid (in order for it to be able to "flow" under the sea) and surely it will make the money (that is made to withstand the sea) "wet" (or damaged)

The producers of spongebob have no idea what they're doing these days.

So it's a crab that wears clothes and runs his own restaurant, but we're drawing the line at water?

I remember hearing something about this in Science class, there's points in the ocean that have alot higher salt concentration and thus are like oceans in the ocean that fish cant swim in.
#109 to #51 - dtanobo (11/25/2012) [-]
There's also the dead sea. It has the highest amount of concentrated salt in the ocean. The high level of salt stops fish from swimming because they tend to float up and eventually die from breathing incapabilities. Only bacteria and like microbes can actually live there. Swimming is pretty much floating there. Yay geography.
