cheer leading is not a sport, gymnastics is. the act described in the enclosed picture better fits Olympic gymnastics then cheer leading.

Half that text relates to stunting which is cheerleading exclusive, and the other half tumbling.
User avatar #272 to #271 - zraxx (11/24/2012) [-]
both of which are part of gymnastics. especially tumbling

Gymnastics doesn't do any stunting. Gymnastics is more of a solo sport because its competitors never go out on the mat (bars, rings, vault, etc) with multiple team members. I've never seen girls in gymnastics pick up one another to perform stunts together.

I will consider cheer leading a sport when everyone considers paintball a sport.

I think they're both sports, but hey, my favourite sport is starcraft 2 so I guess I'm a minority,

Paintballing is no ordinary sport. It's classified as an extreme sport.

"Break a couple of arms and legs and still push yourself to keep going."

Throwing and catching someone whilst having a crack in your arm? Legit as **** .

Add defense then we can call it a sport.
User avatar #244 - awesomenessdefined (11/24/2012) [-]
The difference between a sport and a game is that it matters if you lose a sport.

Cheer leading isn't a sport it's a supplement to a sport just like the marching band however the marching band has large competitions going to national championships in pro football stadiums while cheer leading at best gets a church youth center, this is why it's not a sport it is only a supplement to sports like football. And all that work listed above is done with the assistance of about 4 other girls and also the grammar featured was terrible. I HATE CHEER LEADERS FOR THINKING IT'S A SPORT.

A teammate on my old track team constantly ate right before EVERY race. He ran sub 1 minute in a 400m 15 minutes after a Big Mac.

When I ran cross country, I ate a big mac before running a 5k.

As a result you most likely ran a 30 minute 5k. Its difficult if you let it be. But frankly i think if you are wearing sparkles and makeup, you seem more like a whore than a athlete

I completely agree with the part about cheerleaders.

mfw I could still run a 17min 5k

I won't say cheerleading isn't a sport as long as cheerleaders don't try to convince me of the fact anyway
#237 - dafuqmang (11/24/2012) [-]
This is a sport too. And the marchers don't complain about it. HARD AS **** ! FUN AS HELL

Doesn't cheerleading involve a certain degree of acrobatics?
#212 - fefe (11/24/2012) [-]
Uhhhhhhh, a sport is a competing event, not just something difficult. Idiots.
#210 - newsmyrna (11/24/2012) [-]
There are cheerleading competitions... so it is a sport whether you like it or not. If it involves physical activity and there are winners and losers than it is a sport. Plus if this is counted as a sport than so is cheerleading.
#225 to #210 - Darknesfall (11/24/2012) [-]
So, is speed walking a sport? Physical activity, winners, losers...Everything you said. Is Xbox Kinect a sport? Physicality is involved, winning and losing.

Don't forget Wii sports. That **** gets physical too.
#226 to #225 - newsmyrna (11/24/2012) [-]
Well if it invovles a sanctioning body overseeing a physical competition than yes it is a sport.
#227 to #226 - Darknesfall (11/24/2012) [-]
So, you're saying if a certain amount of people say it's a sport, it is? Hmm...

Steps to making a sport -

1) physical
2) winners, losers
3) supporters

It's time to make gaming a sport. Oh wait, it already is..
