Ignorance!
Smartphones with cameras means that anyone can save memories whenever they want, in pretty good quality. 10 years ago the top digital camera's weren't 8mp, if you wanted good photos you had to buy a roll of film, which run out fairly fast and take time to develop (I still have many rolls of film I had been too lazy to get developed, don't remember what's on them and don't really care.)
Almost everyone (excluding those in 3rd world countries) can now take nice photos that can be viewed and shared around the world immediately! People without access to a smartphone can go down to a local shop and pick up a "shitty" 6+mp camera for well under $100.
This is funny because it pokes fun of people wanting to make their pictures look older and (quite frankly) worse. Hell, there's even a sepia setting on most phones, why use a shitty instagram filter when you have one as good, if not better, on your phone?
