Just looked this guy up, Mike Bernardo, he was bullied as a kid, and took up kick boxing in the hopes of defending himself, going on to have a very successful career in kickboxing and boxing. After he retired, he studied and qualified as a clinical psychologist. He offered trauma and addiction counseling to troubled youth.

From 2010 he suffered from anxiety and deep depression, which resulted in taking his own life this year on February 14th.
