I was just wondering if all these parts would make a Good, Medium or Bad gaming PC. I would like to be playing new games such as Battlefield on High. Is this achievable? What are some good suggestions for A mouse keyboard and monitor. Thanks in advance!

Its a pretty good budget build
Im assuming you dont have the extra cash to shell out for the 3770k and a GTX 660 Ti so for the money, it'll get you places.

The motherboard will be pretty hard to expand on, so if you're gonna upgrade your system, the motherboard will have to be changed in the long run to accompany more PCI-e x16 slots not that it matters too much anyway

since you're getting an aftermarket heatsink and a K series processor, i bet you're planning to overclock
so I would suggest also trying to overclock your RAM only if the motherboard can support it, and if you have the skill to. going with a mid range build and overclocking it to a high end perspective is what a lot of budgeted gamers do. Its cost effective for the performance you get out of it.

The only other thing I'd suggest is for an additional HDD, you can get an SSD to run your OS off of, OR swap out the HDD you hav ethere for a 750GB Seagate Momentus so you get the caching of an SSD with the space of the HDD
the read and write speeds are greater than conventional HDD's but less than SSDs (but SSD's are expensive anyway) So if you can afford an SSD+HDD, get the HDD/SSD Hybrid
#115 to #111 - mrsodasexy (11/18/2012) [-]
at the end there, i meant
"If you cannot afford an SSD and an HDD (e.g 128GB SSD and 3TB HDD) then get the Seagate Momentus 750GB. Its 20 pounds more but it'll be worth it for the speed and performance and you'll have a noticable difference in games

I personally tested it out myself and i loved it, but I preferred the speed of my 128 Crucial M4 a lot better. So I was doomed from the start because I had already used an SSD (the kingston v200 120GB SSD) and I knew how fast they were

Thank you for taking the time to look, I really appreciate it :)

My pleasure!

In sum, good mid range budget build

I do suggest to overclock your CPU, maybr RAM, and I dont know about overcloking that GPU if its effective. OR get two those GPU for 4GB memory! and SLI link them. I highly suggest that.

Good case, make sure to maybe add more fans to your build for ample airflow and cooling to the overclocked parts. Make sure you SATA6Gb/s link your HDD (or the HDD/SSD hybrid if you choose to get it) and you'll get the best out of your build.

Very strong build with potential to overclock to get its full capabilities. Just a few performance tweaks like: Overclocking components and SSD Hybrid and maybe 1 more GPU to add memory, and you're all set to go

User avatar #119 to #116 - toomanyfeels (11/18/2012) [-]
Thanks for you're help, It's my first build so I'm a bit clueless. Would it be able to run games like battlefield 3 or Skyrim on high to Ultra settings?

When it comes to saying things like that, it becomes more about comparison

So lets compare those cards to AMD ATI Radeon HD cards

I use an ATI Radeon 7970 (it cost around $420 but its the fastest single GPU card on the market) so it runs everything and anything at max on its own
But for you, the 7750 or the 6670 is a good bet

on one review of the GT 640 this was said by engadget, "The GT 640 hits the $99 price point, where it sits right between the AMD Radeon HD 7750 at $109 and the last-gen Radeon 6670 at around $80. As it turns out, these rivals pull off something of a pincer movement, leaving NVIDIA's card little room to retaliate. The GT 640 contains a 28nm Kepler chip, but it's a cutdown version of the silicon with just 384 CUDA cores, a poor memory bandwidth of 28.5GB/s and no GPU Boost feature -- which means the card can't boost its 900MHz to make use of thermal headroom. These limitations have a significant impact on the benchmarks,"

So you cant overclock the 640 like I thought, and with ther thermal headroom it has its quite disappointing that you cant.

as for your games, this was said by Tom's Hardware "Tom's Hardware found that the GT 640, as sold on an Afox board, trailed the Radeon HD 7750 (the old one, not even the newer 900MHz version) severely in Battlefield 3, with an average of 25fps versus 44fps at 1920 x 1080. It did better at Skyrim with the same settings, beating the cheaper 6670 and achieving a 32fps average -- but still lagging way behind a 48fps score from the 7750. Diablo III and DiRT 3 showed big disparities too, although both were still very much playable on the NVIDIA. The card ran cool and quiet, but overall this site concluded the card was "too expensive" and would need to drop to $85 in order to be competitive."

SO all in all, for the price, the GT 640 is a little overpriced.

Check out the 7750, it cost about 40 pounds more
or the 6670 which is about the same price, if not less, and performs for its price range.

#133 to #130 - mrsodasexy (11/18/2012) [-]
I should probably explain to you really quickly,

There are little things before the actual name of the graphics card, which are just BRAND NAMING. They BARELY have anything to do with the card itself

for example
the MSi Radeon HD 7970 is the same as the PowerColor Radeon HD7970
they have the same GPU but just a different sticker on it, the only thing that changes is that certain companies like to overclock cards or add features like bigger fans better heatsinks more HDMI or DVI or whatever it may be
essenitally performance stays the same unless otherwise noted

its a bit of a stretch but i think the [url deleted] XFX-DisplayPort-PCI-Express-FX775AZNP4-FX-775A-ZNP4/dp/B007Z3T5JC/ref=pdcppc_0

will be a good bet
its extremely quiet, low power costing, and the Catalyst Control Center (this is a software that will come with the graphics card CD or you can download the latest version from AMD's website) will allow you to actually EASILY overclock the GPU. and monitor the heat readings and whatnot so you can ensure you get the best out of your card
the gpu clock is defaulted at 800MHz so, you'll want to push it up to perhaps 900MHz if it can go that high, watch the heat readings though. I dont think overheating will be a problem at all, but its worth a look. 80C is okay if its at full load. getting around the 100C mark can be dangerous.
I doubt you'll get it that hot though.

#156 to #154 - mrsodasexy (11/18/2012) [-]
In my opinion, yes.
great reviews for this card and also if you look down, Anon also said you dont need a full 2GB card, just as I said and he suggests getting a better motherborad, just as I said, so that in the future, you can upgrade it with more PCI-e x16 slots.

It'll be a little more costly and IF YOU CANT AFFORD IT, DONT DO IT.
This is only if you have the extra cash to shell out for those upgrades. EVEN THOUGH it'll last you in the long run, if you cant afford to throw the extra $100-$200 right now, for the build you have you'll be getting great performance. So dont even worry about it

Dude, its my pleasure. I live for tech and especially PC's
I build computers as often as money allows and I'm thinking of starting a business around it. I love this stuff and love to help. So if you have any more pressing questions, feel free to ask me

Or if you want, I can even create a budget build for you. Give me the price range, and I'll tell you my build options of what I think you can go with.
User avatar #161 to #129 - toomanyfeels (11/18/2012) [-]
Couldn't reply to the other one anymore, And awesome thank you so much but I really cannot go over 700Euro.
#166 to #161 - mrsodasexy (11/18/2012) [-]
no worries.
okay so i have two build options

but i have to ask, are you using this computer more for gaming or other processes as well?
because it comes down to switching out the processor. the core i5 3570k is good for gaming and its $100 cheaper than the core i7 3770k

if you get the 3570k, it gives you about $100 extra to spend on Corsairs wonderful line of closed loop liquid cooling and it'll give you more room to overclock your CPU
User avatar #167 to #166 - toomanyfeels (11/18/2012) [-]
All I plan on using it for is gaming and recording the gameplay and editing it.
User avatar #172 to #167 - silasdg (11/18/2012) [-]
if you want to edit gameplay footage do not go with the i5. I5 processors are dual core (mostly) as opposed to the i7 which is 4-6 core. Lots more power and you will notice it in processor heavy games.
#170 to #167 - mrsodasexy (11/18/2012) [-]
because of your tight budget, and i already picked out most of the parts, i have one build that will leave you with great room to upgrade in the future if you want to add on to it because I cant fit a good motherboard in there along with the i7 3770k processor, I went with a great motherboard but a i5 3570k processor
i kept the GPU the same, because its a good GPU, the case is the same, the processor cooler is the same, although for that price, you may not even need that ZALMAN cooler . I went with the 750GB SSD HDD hybrid so you get good speeds while gaming and 16GB of 1600MHz corsair vengeance 2 x 8 GB RAM sticks so you can always upgrade to 32 GB if you want to. total cost for this (minus the power supply you have there) is USD$885.69 on amazon which is 695.91Euro

The powersupply you have I read a little bit of bad reviews on it, but I cant afford to have you change it because if you do, it'll go over 700 euro, it'll be like maybe 750 Euro total.

So essentially, with the limitations, you can either have a nicer processor (though not by much) and a little bit weaker motherboard, OR a better motherboard and a little bit weaker processor

I say go with the better motherboard, because it'll be a great thing to have in the future.

So my build for you is this:

Core i5 3750k processor $219
Gigabyte Intel Z77 G1. SNIPER 3 Motherboard - $267.99
Cooler Master Elite 430 Case - $53.05
Lite-On 24X SATA DVD Drive - $17.99
Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB - $128.21
XFX AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB - $108.49
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) - $71.99
TOTAL: USD$867.71 - EURO$681.79

which means you have around 19EURO to spend

i took out the ZALMAN cooler, dont worry about overclocking since its your first build. When you learn more about computers and decide to overclock, you'll understand why you should just invst in a corsair h60 or h80 cooler instead. The stock cooler on the 3570 should be enough

It will work. The only thing I can really say is that you can save some money on the graphics card or invest it in a better one. You don't really need 2GB of ram on it unless your running something like an nvidia surround setup with like 4,000x1080 res.... Also in your motherboard you way want to invest in another PCI3 port.... If you ever come across some money or become an enthusiast and you want to SLI, that only has 1 PCI3. On a side note Asus makes fantastic mother boards. If that has UEFI bios (which I imagine it does) it makes your overclocked very easy, just remember on ivy chips to go for the multiplier not the bus, and don't touch the RAM. Your RAM technically isn't supported by your mobo... Not that it really matters, you can tweek the speed/latency till it works. It will probably try to run it 1300mhz though.

I don't know any solid estimates but I'm reasonably ceratin Intel's new Haswell chips are marked for Q1 2013.... No reason to really invest in old technology if you can wait a couple months. Yet again, I don't know for certain if a release date has been confirmed. Just speculation. Intel goes off a Tic-Toc model. Producing a whopping new processor, then a revision. So Haswell is supposed to be their Huge improvement stage, then a revision of Haswell will come out after it.
