I wouldn't say this could happen with jesus, but folk tales like paul bunyan and stuff I'm sure started because of this.
User avatar #104 to #38 - bulbakip ONLINE (11/17/2012) [-]
so chuck norris will be the next paul bunyon?

Or has media ruined folk tales because there is no mysticism of oral traditions anymore.

There's historical evidence that strongly suggest certain biblical stories are based around actual happenings (i.e. Noah's ark was based around a Sumerian king who loaded a boat up with treasure and floated down the Euphrates river during an especially strong flood.)
User avatar #170 to #26 - koombine (11/17/2012) [-]
User avatar #86 to #26 - noblexfenrir (11/17/2012) [-]
Well to be fair that can be used for a wide variety of reasonings, there were far more than just 1 event that can be interpreted as the ark story happening before/during the time of the new testament. So essentially if you are trying to find something that the myth could be based off of, you're going to find something eventually, so it kind of makes it a moot point.

The fact that pretty much every culture in that region has almost the exact same story and the fact they all match up to the thing that really happened?
That's evidence.

If you look you see an interesting number of commonalities between unrelated mythologies (compare to pandora to eve, Deucalion(spelling?) to Noah etc.) and some of these can actually be compared to actual historical occurrences (such as how Moses parting the red sea was actually the reed sea parting on it's own on a windy day), that's all I meant.
User avatar #40 to #31 - englman (11/17/2012) [-]
The red sea bit is interesting to me. I think roughly the same way, but not quite. I think people get too "one-sided" in their thinking. Why did it have to be JUST Moses? (I think it was actually meant to be God unless i'm reading it wrong. Moses wasn't magical.) Or why did it have to be JUST Science?
I believe that God created Science and works through the laws that He created, like 99% of the time, instead of "magic." (He could if He wanted, but then I think it'd be too easy to believe in Him if there was magical crap happening everywhere.) So I think that since the Red Sea only parts in a Scientifically explainable way on very windy days, and the Bible states that it got very windy, maybe it's safe to say that God caused it to get really windy, thus conveniently opening the sea for Moses and his people?

Who watches Chuck Norris films? They're the worst pieces of cinematic garbage to ever disgrace the face of this world.

That's a bit over-exaggerated, but they are pretty bad.

that's true, but it's just a titch annoying when people make a joke about something they've never actually seen in an attempt to jump on a bandwagon and fit in or be "cool"

Anybody remember the Kings from Fallout New Vegas? The gang outfit was based off of Elvis because the gang thought people worshipped him. They determined this from the posters and outfits they found, which were really costumes for studying actors.
What if something similar happened with Chuck Norris? Except the members don't just dress like him but undergo surgical enhancements to become like him....
That'd be and interesting faction.

You underestimate how much endurance and strength a retard can have. Literally, my guy has 1 intelligence.
User avatar #266 to #265 - fuzzyballs (11/18/2012) [-]
I started with 9 END because I wanted all the implants, and deathclaws still kill me in 2 hits
but then again, I only use light armour, that way I can at least get damaged instead of negating all damage all the ******* time
and I just learned how decent a grenade rifle can be against most enemies
User avatar #60 to #10 - yoyoyojack (11/17/2012) [-]
... man I miss a lot.

I choose 100% melee using the Oh Baby!
I took out pack of deathclaws in the Quarry Junction with it. It's very satisfying
User avatar #242 to #60 - EdwardNigma (11/18/2012) [-]
Oh **** me dead, I did that too. Had ED-E, Lily and Raul with me, on my leader-eating cannibal ManlyMan Johnson. He has 1 intelligence, literally and is almost 100% melee based.

It was horrifying, I ******* hate Deathclaws.
User avatar #246 to #242 - EdwardNigma (11/18/2012) [-]
I should Mention, all 3 fell early in the battle and it ended up just being me hiding, waiting to become hidden then attacking. Another mod I had on added more enemies too. As in, there wasn't just normal Deathclaws.
User avatar #63 to #60 - fuzzyballs (11/17/2012) [-]
sure you did, I'll bet it was on the easiest difficulty, because they can kill my character that started with 9 END in 2 hits

both, first got the ps3 version, bought all the DLC because back then my pc was ****

and yes, I have the extended weapon mods mod

User avatar #64 to #36 - fuzzyballs (11/17/2012) [-]
I have one of the motorcycle mods, but I actually prefered walking around in light armour
when your armour gets better nothing can even damage you anymore, that's when you start playing the DLC's, so you can have some sort of challenge

starting big MT with over 500 12-gauge rounds, ended with less than 100
