You know, when I first heard that Disney had bought Lucasfilms and were planning to make a new Star Wars, I was like the rest of you and hated the thought of it. Then I remembered that Disney are the corporation who own bother Pixar and Marvel; two companies that have made some of the best films in recent years. Granted the last few Star Wars films were a bit bad compared to the rest, which was mainly down to the dodgy dialogue, but if they get writers and Directors like Christopher Nolan, David Fincher and Sam Mendes behind it, I can honestly say it could prove to be a relatively good film.
I think it's going to be good... only basing this opinion on the fact that Disney also make the Marvel films and tend to do a pretty good job at them.
Anybody know what part of the star wars universe timeline it's in? I think it would be pretty sweet to see a movie with Revan.
They haven't actually said what it is going to be about, but they are keeping Lucas on as an advisor. If I were to conjecture, I'd say they would be the script that Lucas had already decided to not film. It will probably be Luke founding the new Jedi Order, rebuilding the Republic and Han and Leia's kids becoming Jedi etc.
Why on Earth are you thinking as something as far away in the past as Darth Talon when the movies will clearly be named Episodes 7, 8 and 9?!
Is chronological order displayed as a numerical sequence such a hard thing to compute?

There's already tons of Star Wars animated films. There's books and movies that continue the story. We have history hundreds of years before the movies. We also have stories of the new Jedi Academy that Luke started. No one gave a shit for years. As soon as Disney wants to continue something, everyone gets all butt-hurt for no reason.
You people say that you hated the prequels. Most of the audiences loved them. It was 16 years between episode 6 and 1. No one cared if it would be good or bad, because they knew any Star Wars film created by George Lucas would still be awesome.
Now, it's been 7 years since Revenge of the Sith and Disney wants to make more films. YOU PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING? For all we know, Disney is going to go bat-shit crazy and make some of the most awesome films we'll see. Unless it's going to completely butcher the series like Dragon Ball Evolution or The Last Airbender I don't care that they're making more movies.
One of my teachers who crazy about Star Wars (he literally goes out and buys any toy or product he can find) and he loves the continuation of the movies.
It's not about the producers, it's about the production. Star Wars is still living on, but happy about it.
TL;DR: Stop being butt-hurt, we're getting more awesome movies.

Anakin in the prequel was a little cunt... who turned into Darth Vader.
What the original trilogy portrayed was a 'great man' who succumbed to the dark side. Darth Vader is the coolest anti-hero and didn't get the back story he deserved.
But yes, I did like Revenge of the Sith because of the cinematics.

Well, I was a bit sceptic at first when I heard that disney had bought it.. The first thing that came to mind was some cartoon princes movie.. But when a friend told me how many studios is accually owned by Disney, I changed my mind. I accualy think Disney can spit out something awesome, as longas the story's well written. I hope they take their time, and don't rush it.
No sources sorry, a friend told me about it.. Gues she found out on the net or something..

That's completely different. Star Wars doesn't take place in our world, where everything's already established, like every movie you just named.
Star Wars, probably even more than a movie series, is a universe, with hundreds of different planets and species, and more written history and lore than anyone can remember. The series was never "laid to rest" as new comics, books, and videogames are being produced, not to mention it has a few TV shows based in the universe.

i didn't say disney would be good ... it COULD be good .. it all depends on how they do it
but i don't really care
I'd rather someone grew the balls and put some backing into a proper fucking halo movie ,.. i mean seriously we've had arms race, land fall and the forward unto dawn miniseries (just watched part 5, shit gave me dopamine shivers) and they are fucking awesome ... yet still no ones backing it
(pic related, me for halo movie)
