Oh crap! Someone mentioned religion! Run from the ********* everyone!

That is some flawed logic. Example

Hitler was evil. Hitler supported x. Therefore x is evil.

Hey, I'm not complaining. If Christianity is responsible for the holocaust, Atheism is responsible for deaths of over 100 million people.

Pic related.

The difference between the religious and the secular is that religion provides doctrines while secular freethinking doesn't. "If the whole world was atheist or secular, good people would do good while bad people do bad, it takes religion to make the good do bad." Stalin was a bad guy not because of his Atheism because it doesn't offer any doctrines. While the religious are influenced by the doctrines of their correlated religion.

Yeah and then maybe religious people would have a reason why Atheism is bad.

Christianity Religion in general is responsible for billions of deaths. (Crusades, Palestine vs. Israel, Catholics vs. Protestants, etc.)

Yea... billions...

Well, dating back to the Ancient cultures with their Pagan religions, and keeping in mind that most wars often have a religious subtext ("God be with us" blahblahblah), then yeah. Well, "billions" may be a bit of a stretch. At least many hundred millions.

>Implying Hitler's public statements always matched his private ones

"You see, it's been our misfortune to have the wrong religion. Why didn't we have the religion of the Japanese, who regard sacrifice for the Fatherland as the highest good? The Mohammedan religion too would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?" -- Adolf Hitler

another good quote

You can't completely discard every aspect of someone, no matter how evil they're considered. Setting aside the (admittedly hilarious) Mountain Dew flavour campaign, yes, Hitler was an evil bastard. But he had some excellent policies and ideas.

I completely agree, I respect the hell out of Hitler for bringing Germany out of the worst depression it's ever seen and making many scientific advances during his reign. Sure, he did some terrible things but there is a reason he was Time Magazines man of the year in 1938.

That's still a good quote though. You can't let the man who said it ruin the quality of it.
