Although I understand his patriotic views on why he wanted to abolish the Federal Reserve, but it would just destroy the economy. The Federal Reserve is responsible for finding trends in the economy and injecting money and withdrawing it from the money market in order to keep the economy stable. Not to mention the fact that the Federal Reserve acts completely separate from the government anyway.

The entire point of having a third party institution was so congress couldn't over inflate the economy and look what the fed is doing now.

The market boomed fast furiously in the early 1900's, and although I can't really explain it, but when a market expands too fast it becomes unstable and collapses on itself, which is why checks and balances like the Federal Reserve are put in place in order to prevent us from growing too fast and going into the great depression

Boom and bust economies are bad, but we don't need a private company to regulate it there is no reason that a government agency or a congressional committee couldn't run it just as or more effectively. The only thing that I hate more than expansion of government is government integration with private business.
