Only the jackass atheists will even respond negatively if you mention you're religious in anyway. One third will reply positively, these are the happy atheists. One will reply neutrally, these are the, 'I don't talk about my beliefs, because people tend to argue about them' type of atheists. The only time one of these two will respond, is if you dis them, and not passively like the whole system of Atheism, just their belief. I tend not to argue, unless you're one who goes, 'hey, dude, I fucking know I'm fucking right, asshole. Listen fucker, when you die and go to heaven, St. peters gonna be all, 'sorry bitch, wrong belief system. Hell for you.'" Those are the twelve year old atheists. Irrelevant, in any case, because you can't threaten someone with an imaginary gun. It's like a hippy, I've always liked this analogy, threatening anyone with a bad aura. It doesn't matter to you, why? Because you don't believe in it. Before you go all, 'oh, way to compare only one thing a lot of people believe in.' What about witchcraft? And karma? Mind-control? And, of course, being thrown out of heaven for believing in the WRONG religion. You use that a lot, with other religious people. Christian to Jew, one example is enough, and so forth. Some people wrongly use it to justify killing, discrimination, etc. when such actions are contrary to the Church's teaching. Religion isn't nearly as bad as you guys make it seem. People that use Religion to justify wrongdoing give the rest of us a bad name.

theencyclopedia (09/19/2012) [-] i didnt thumb you down or anything im just saying that what you're saying is only about 20% true. for example the crusades led to tons of bloodshed because pope urban said that god demanded the muslims to be killed and the holy land taken back. that isnt a "wrong" interpretation of religion. it was just what an overpowered religious official thought was right according to "god". this has happened a number of times in history and is still a problem today.

joemand (09/19/2012) [-] Let's be clear on a few things here. If you study the Islamic religion then you will note that their "prophet" used his status to wage many unjust wars, rapes, killings, etc. Therefore, when it comes to Christianity vs. Islam, they were both victims to each other.
In regards to the rest of your comment, the Church during that period was incredibly corrupt by political figures. These figures simply used and skewed the interpretation of uneducated followers to do their dirty work. By dirty work I really mean taking complete control by using religion as a complete excuse.
However, if you look at any organization then you will see that there are always particular members who abuse it and use it for malicious intent. Just look what science did in Nazi Germany. It lead to the horrible experimental testing of 1000's. Is this the purpose of Science - no. Although it is the purpose of those who mean to do wrong.
