I prefer that to another mangling of Bob Dylan songs. Or House of the rising sun rendered by tone deaf singer.

I still enjoy when people play wonderwall since it's a good song

I learned alot of those songs when I started taking guitar seriously, you wouldnt by any chance be learning at a music school called old town would you?

No, I have no formal training, my Dad has been a bass player for 30+ years. My uncle gave me his old six-string, my Dad drug his bass out after it was sitting under his bed for 15 years and the rest, as they say, is history.

Tanglewood- TW28 CLN
Moonlight Sonata 1st Mvt. by Beethoven
Classical/blues

I took lessons for a short time when I was a lot younger and quit for some reason. I've been trying to teach myself how to play again as of recently. The piano is my main instrument right now, though. Nothing beats stretching your fingers across those octave chords.

My brother plays a lot of classical. He's studying music in university and was majoring in composition, but he had to switch some classes to business so that he had a better chance to get a job. I tried my hand at a classical song once, since i have my brother's old classical laying around my house. It was a lot more challenging than a lot of the other stuff i've played to get it to sound just right. That was a while ago though, haven't tried playing classical since then

I very rarely play my guitar with an amp, not sure why. Just something i've gotten used to. You should try it, would hate for a Gibson Les Paul to go to waste.

Dont have a pic of mine but it's a Hondo "Fame" Mastercaster from the 1980's. hard find actually. plays great.

This rustled my jimmies beyond belief. Try going into a guitar center on a busy sunday morning. All you hear is muddy guitar tones, overplayed songs from the 80s, and the occasional genuine musician, but those are rare.

god damn. this made me extremely angry for some reason! people who don't play guitar are impressed by the simplest things guitarists do and it bothers me how a major douche that "plays" guitar is somehow considered the coolest person ever

>Implying it's easy to play stairway to heaven
No. Sure you might be able to follow the basic cords, but playing it like Jimmy Page, you won't if you aren't really good. The solo is hard too.
User avatar #63 to #2 - jordoguy (09/17/2012) [-]
It takes talent to play that unlike wonderwall though

I've been trying to learn that on my own, it's pretty fucking hard...
User avatar #21 to #18 - aiwendel (09/17/2012) [-]
Hm. I went for Pink Floyd songs first, knocking on heaven's door and house of the rising sun. Is there something wrong with me? :D
User avatar #22 to #21 - doctornick (09/17/2012) [-]
nope, one of the easiest song on a guitar is "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd. House of the rising sun isn't too difficult either, it's just 5 chords repeated through pretty much the whole song.
User avatar #23 to #22 - aiwendel (09/17/2012) [-]
Yeah but when you're a newfag to guitars even they are a bit hard. Well wish you were here is easy, even the solo isn't the hardest ever, though I've yet to learn that. I have small problems on the last part of Is there anybody out there though.
User avatar #4 to #2 - swimmingprodigy (09/17/2012) [-]
cant say shit about stairway to heaven.
There's a reason it's the first song everyone tries to learn
