We only have two real public events where cosplaying goes on, which are Supanova and Wai-con, but they're in the inner city, nowhere near where those events actually happen, so I'm guessing it was just a not so popular event. For example, I was walking down the main street to go to the local anime merch store and ran into a horde of about 30 zombie cosplayers.
