noblexfenrir ONLINE (09/12/2012) [-] No it was the collision that started the domino trail, however the heat caused by the jet fuel severely weakened the structure. Considering the twin towers were much heavier built with key center beams that if damaged, would cause entire floors to collapse. You also have to remember that a large portion of the WTC wasn't planned, it was increased in height later on and the addition wasn't as detail oriented as it should have been.

There's really no possible way to transfer all of the energy in the plane and distribute it evenly among all of the supporting structures inside of the building and then have it collapse perfectly.
The fires would have done no damage to the skeleton whatsoever, the only real damage would have come from the impact, which was on one of the uppermost floors, and the damage was only on one side of the building. If the impact was enough to bring down the building, it would have happened immediately, as the jet fuel fires would have had virtually no effect on the steel.

italianrambo (09/12/2012) [-] Nothing falls in on itself except for controlled demolitions. If you throw things at towers, they will fall over. You can't build something to fall in on itself when it is hit by a plane (or other flying object) you can only set it up to be demolished to fall in on itself. (such as cuts in the support beams that run up the center of the tower, explosions at the base of the tower that were heard by firefighters in the bottom floor and people who were escaping from the lobby)

While this method works fine when the building isn't under fire conditions, it fails quickly once exposed to the heat stress of a fire. Before you start being an idiot and claiming this was a government conspiracy, learn your shit. Maybe take a building construction class as it relates to the fire service, they break down the construction of the twin towers and what exactly failed and why. Lastly, show some damn respect for those who gave there lives that day. People ran in that day exhibiting as much courage as humanly possible. Even in wars, people know they may die or get shot, but the people who went in on 9/11 knew and expected that they would be killed. They went in anyways because they knew they would be able to get more people out and that more lives would be saved than just there's and that's about the greatest show of humanity and sacrifice that there has ever been.

when they built the wwc in '72 they used hollow lead pipe not steel as bracing between floors, that combined with the lack of flame retardant lead to the buckling of the tubes and one floor collapsed on to the one below it with the pressure of all the floors above it, that collapsed the floor below that one. it was a chain reaction caused by the collapse of the floor above it.
