Please explain to me how art can not be vandalism. Art is art, no matter what the fuck you draw. Vandalism is when you do something to SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY WITHOUT PERMISSION and generally is something bad. Any type of drawing is considered art, music is considered art. Learn the mother fucking difference between art and vandalism.

Street Art: A picture or painting on the side of a building or wall that is well painted and is usually either satirical of the current political climate or is metaphorical of human existence.

Vandalism: Usually takes the form of the "artists" name or alias and is little more than a statement of "gangsta-ness", "boldness" or "I tagged this wall, my cock must be huge".

Yet advertising the fuck out of everything everywhere isn't vandalism

Well, both are technically still a crime. Vandalism is vandalism no matter how tastefully it's done. It's only okay if it's done with the property owner's permission. If someone paints a giant Mona Lisa on the side of my house, it may be pretty and cool but at the end of the day I'll probably be the one cleaning it off.

Got to learn somewhere, most street artists start with tagging, then move on to more artistic forms of tagging, then move onto street art. It's not like people magically become experts the first time they pick up a spray can.
