Guys, DLC has always been a way to make extra money off the game, that isn't the problem. The problem is the quality of said DLC.
Take for example, Call of Duty. Pay $15 for a map pack, of which you'll probably only like one or two anyway, and there'll normally be three or four per game. The sad part is, many players who can play it on PC can get community maps for free (This goes for most PC games as well) so this is a pretty cheap way to create new content, but it's still content.
Then you have guys like Valve and works like TF2. The items you see in the store, 95% of those you can get on your own, WITHOUT buying them. If you do buy them, it's just an easier way to get something you want at less time, for a price. There's also items such as Keys and Tickets needed to get special items, but they certainly aren't required, and you aren't missing much if you don't get them. You can take it or leave it, and there's no real harm either way.
Finally, there's people like Bethesda, and I'm talking DLC the likes of Fallout: New Vegas. These are literal game expansions, creating both more story, characters, locations, weaponry, enemies, and the like. A more recent example could also be Dawnguard for Skyrim. This is where it's like you're buying a mini-video game, and if done right, can easily be well worth the price, or more.
So, yeah, some DLC is just bullshit developers push for extra money, and sometimes it's something amazing you wouldn't wanna go without.
DLC should NOT, however, be something that's required to play the GOD DAMN GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Anyone here thinks that EA shitted on BF3 by trying to imitate COD. I wanted bad company not some pussy shit. I lost my shit when i found out you cant even destroy buildings.Fucking COD and its gold made the BF team cock hungry. Turned a great series into shit for the sake of a gun game
Not exactly a fan boy, I haven't owned a Battlefield game since the original Bad Company.
And to be fair, they did add stuff too.
Also, I believe COD and BF3 would both be copying Tarantino-style story telling of constant flashbacks/timeskips, not BF3 copying COD.

Well, that's understandable. I was certainly hoping for some kind of finality on Marlowe and the crew's story, but it seems we'll have to wait. Even if they took some stuff out, they did put a lot of stuff in it too, and there's no reason you can't enjoy the game for what it is.
Have a nice day.

1. nobody forced you to buy the game, let alone brand new at 60 bones.
2. nobody forced you to get elite, see a pattern forming?
3.You don't have to have xbox live to play the game only to gank other people online so again thats an extra you wanted to buy that you guessed it, nobody forced you to buy...

Listen bro,I'm a CoDfanboy!
No need to get mad,I love everygame.
But I love CoD because it's simple and has a couple of game modes other games don't have.
I just don't buy DLC for MW3,since I don't care about maps or faceoff.
but BO1 DLC was awsome because of zombies.
See my profile picture?
It's forth prestige in MW3.
So,Yeah I guess you're right.
But I'm not paying for MW3 DLC.

why are you telling me no need to get mad, i ain't mad if i want a game i buy it, if i want the dlc for it, you guessed it, i buy it. I don't cry online about how game companies are this or that because they are just smart business men/women. if folks like us didn't buy the dlc they would stop doing it. anyway my point was if anyones mad its you bro.
I'm not mad,I was trying to stop YOU from getting mad.
I'm not crying about it,I'm just saying I don't feel like i'm getting my moneys worth in MW3 DLC.
Survival gets boring, face off is stupid,
Spec ops is a one time thing,
And why get MORE MP maps?

Ok, heres what you do. Dont buy Mw3 dlc because it sucks dick, most dlc does. Dont buy elite.
Or if you got the hardened edition like i did(which is the only reason why i have elite) then elite and all dlc is free. The only game ive ever bought dlc for was halo 3 and i can honestly say its worth it.
60$ for a fucking year of online gameplay really isnt that bad

Now they got "Season Passes" which usually involve releasing about 4 pieces of dlc and you can pay 30 dollars before hand or buy it individually for 40 dollars that probably should have been put into the game in the first place.
100 dollars per game.

I remember when I bought this for PC, I thought it was alright, but then after I beat the game, unlocked all the weapons, and tried to log in to my Windows Live account the next day, it wouldn't let me..
NEVER AGAIN CAPCOM!! NEVER! AGAIN!
At least until Resident Evil 6

shit, man...
i'm still scared as all fuck from that ice cream cone

I really don't know any games like that.
Any game is still playable without DLC, the DLC is like the toppings on a pizza.

Hearthfire may be interesting, and creative, but it's a load of shit. Dawnguard was let-down too. Where's the next Shivering Isles? Where's the DLC that gives you an entirely new world to explore? They've got all that misty empty space on the edges of the map and the Cyrodiil area south of Skyrim. Fucking use it.

Cost of individual DLC - $14.99
Total cost of all DLC (excluding worth of unobtainables by not subscribing to Premium) - $74.95
BF3 Premium DLC - $49.99
So, spend less, to get more, sooner than everyone else, especially if I personally consider the DLC to be worth it. That's the idea behind Premium.

Kinda hard what to say on this, with the ability for gaming companies to just update their games, think of it like WoW, it's a continuation of the story, but they've got the basics perfect, now I'm not saying how good a game WoW is, but just how it's being operated
With online games specificly, either they keep updating it or they make the other stuff into a seperate game, which would also split the online audience and pretty much kill one of the other games in the process
But also an other thing I noticed, games are made in a short time span after each other, which makes the graphical difference smaller and smaller, if not invisible and you start to question, why not just make it into the original game
The thing is.. We've never tried this before, what, not even doing it for 10 years, it's a new era and the basics are still being made, goes for alot of things lately, Bruce Willis reason to consider sueing Apple, Megaupload and so on.
I'm just hoping this comes out okay these things, in a way that'll benefit the the costumers without destroying companies.

The fact that developers don't release the whole game, pisses me off. I have just payed $60 for a cake that's only 30% there. When I buy that cake, I expect the other 70%. I want to enjoy the whole game, not go out and buy 3 hours worth of game play 6 months later. When I purchase DLC, I want another whole chapter into the game (Dawngaurd). When you make an online game, you don't break it up in tiny pieces and overprice a small piece of cake, you give the buyer what they want: A chilled black forest cake complete with Hershey chocolate shavings, and chocolate chips (Skyrim). Not some shitty carrot cake with deer poop laced with glitches that ruin the game for everyone (BF3,MW3). Whenever you release a very successful game in a series, you have to iron out all the bugs before the game is released, it doesn't matter how many teams you use, make the game playable when it comes out.
TL;DR Developers need to get their shit together.
