It's perfectly fine to have pride in being a woman, but in respect you also have to allow a man to have pride in being a man.

Yes, our culture is tipped bias towards men treating women like garbage in the media but who do you think is allowing that? It's not the men.

Women don't think for themselves because that is what feminism and women's studies have trained you to do. They infantlize you into believing there is an imaginary group of men who are secretly in power to prevent women from achieving things. It's very much like a religion actually, in that it can't be proven and when it is questioned the believers always resort to personal attacks.

Women have to start taking responsibility for themselves and their action. It's called owning your **** . Stop blaming men for all of your problems. It isn't a man's fault that more men are CEOs. It isn't a man's fault that there isn't a female president in the USA. It isn't a man's fault that you got drunk and slept with somebody but wound up regretting it later. It isn't a man's fault that you didn't get that job.

Own your **** . The real invisible group in power, the feminists, the real feminism (see the Agent Orange Files) do not want you to own your **** . They want you to behave like stupid, spoiled little brats. They are succeeding magnificently. It's your own collective fault.

Wow. This, right here, is why I read the comments on these types of posts. I agree with this in a level I haven't seen before. You deserve a medal. I recently had a conversation with a few feminists, and they were talking about how women have expectations put on them, clothing wise. They blamed male fashion designers. I blamed the women who support that standard by buying the clothing. It went downhill from there.
User avatar #452 to #434 - parrotgod (08/07/2012) [-]
And you are completely right! I don't own any designer purses but I will admit to owning 12 pairs of shoes. Being that I take good care of them, I've had most of these pairs of shoes for 7-8 years and the only new shoes I've bought in the last 3 years were two pairs of work shoes. I'm not a typical woman, I buy by necessity, never brand. And all the women I see who go by brand I find to be increasingly plastic, hollow shelled women who rush into marry the nearest wallet they can find and try to fill that void with sex or children and it just ends up badly for both parties. There is no middle ground it seems with the Femenazi's, any type of kindness you do for the other sex and you're now one with the enemy. Once I entertained a guest at my house, a lesbian woman whom I work with, who began berrating me for rubbing my husband's feet as we sat next to each other on the couch. They didn't smell, they were covered by socks, but apparently it was lowering myself to do so. I looked at her and said, "I am returning the favor, as today is my day off, and he worked all day why shouldn't I rub his feet and say thank you for helping earn money to feed this family and care for this home?" She went on a triade, ruined the movie and I haven't invited her back since.
User avatar #457 to #452 - bgbba (08/08/2012) [-]
I once saw a clip on Youtube of feminists saying that stay at home moms are "traitors" to their sex. These stories just go on and on. Feminism served its purpose, to make equality of opportunity and expectation. But now, I fear that the balance is tipping from a patriarchal society to a matriarchal one, due to men's guilt for past oppressions and these feminazis.
#471 to #457 - anonymous (08/08/2012) [-]
"Tipping" - are you serious? In the USA alone, 65% of children do not have their biological father in their lives. Tipping. Wake the **** up and smell the giant steaming pile of reality in the room.

And for ****** sake. Women were NEVER oppressed. Talk to the ******* Jewish people in Germany or the Blacks during the slavery era about oppression. Women have always, universally been treated better than men during the entire history of humankind.
User avatar #481 to #471 - parrotgod (08/08/2012) [-]
For a half second I was almost sure you read the comments, now I'm pretty sure you're a troll. Women were oppressed, we were the weaker sex and as time went on and we evolved in culture and stature women started pressing for equal rights like, choosing their own husband, having the right to own property, being able to vote. Those sound like choices we wanted to make to "own up to our own **** ." rather than blindly slide through a day. Women being sold as property or slaves, having to live with multiple wives under one man's roof and doing what he bade you whether he was cruel or kind.... back before there was any real learning involved ignorance prevailed and yes they were definitely oppressed. Look at the colonial era for example, the rights went White Man>White woman>Black man>Black Woman. No matter the color, the man was always considered more important and given more respect than the woman.

Since I know you won't listen to a random anon, go look up the videos on youtube by a blogger going under the handle GirlWritesWhat.

She has done a series of videos outlining things that you need to know about men, women and the real history of our species. I sincerely suggest you take some time to watch these videos, you'd be surprised at what you might learn.

There are a lot of videos to watch, and a lot of information contained within.
User avatar #497 to #492 - parrotgod (08/08/2012) [-]
I'll give it a look later and give you a chance anon. But your previous arguments would've been more compelling had they been worded differently, and there's too much misery going on this world for me to believe women are not oppressed in other areas. Middle East case and point.
#508 to #497 - anonymous (08/08/2012) [-]
The sad reality about what goes on over there is that the majority of women in those countries want things to be the way they are. They understand that as bad as they may have it at times, the average man is far worse off.

You may recall a story out of Egypt not too long ago during the riots where a person being beaten in the streets turned out to be a woman. Now, nobody gave a **** about the fact that up until that point thousands of men were being beaten. In fact, nobody even notices the man being beaten not 10 feet away when the blue bra woman is shown.

What happens? A rabid juggernaut of women storm the streets shouting "you can beat us, kill us, our brothers' blood will shield us." The women know that men will protect them, they way men always have protected women.

Generally speaking, the "oppression" you hear of with stonings and such are done by the same nutjob religious extremists doing all of the rest of the other stupid crap.
User avatar #469 to #457 - parrotgod (08/08/2012) [-]
As much as I'd like to believe women might win one once in a while, they're hallucinating if they think we're going to get a woman dominated society. Look at Abortion laws, Ohio's got one where if a pregnant woman falls down the stairs and the doctor thinks she did it on purpose to end a pregnancy she can go to jail and be put to death after having the baby. There's a few others like ones in Texas where you have to listen to the heart beat before terminating a pregnancy. It's as though women are not given the opportunity to think for themselves that, maybe they won't be a good parent and shouldn't have this baby and it was a mistake, saving us thousands of dollars in tax payer money and stopping another child from ending up in an abusive situation. I won't call myself a liberal, but the conservatives are really pushing to stop any type of women's liberation. The Handmaiden's Tale, and 1985 are all good novels for what could happen and realistically it won't matter what sex you are. It'd be a very optimistic view point if we have any privacy, or rights in the next 10 years sadly.
User avatar #479 to #469 - bgbba (08/08/2012) [-]
What do you mean, "any privacy" in the next ten years? I assume you're refering to women as a whole. The Handmaid's Tale is indeed a wonderful book, but I think that its intent was to point out how awful for Whites it would be if we COULDN"T have kids, while in reality we just choose not to. I do agree with the whole thing about abortion though. Conservatives are currently tying social agenda to economic agenda, creating a nasty backlash based around the Christian Right. I really feel bad for women as of late. I'm a New Hampshirite, and my state elected a bunch of republicans to fix the budget. They fixed it, but then proceeded to implement a nasty, invasive agenda, which doesn't fit the "Live free or die" state at all. They pulled a bait and switch, and they won't do it again. Unless the liberals and moderates unite against this invasive, anti-woman machine, our nation will be in for some tough times.
User avatar #488 to #479 - parrotgod (08/08/2012) [-]
I'm speaking of the invasive measures to a person's biological well being, as a fetus or an adult. Everyone has to know everything about everyone else and therefore rules must be put in place for how to deal with each "person". It's a pretty long winded thing but you get the jist of it. I miss the america 10 years ago under Bill Clinton, it wasn't perfect, but it was the only time we were in excess with our treasury and not in debt.

Sometimes someone might deserve to. But I don't think it would be based off their genitalia. It would be based off of what they've done as a person. Not as a man. Not as a a woman. As a human being.

Let me correct you on that where you said feminists you meant people.
User avatar #467 to #464 - lightningunicorn (08/08/2012) [-]
It's true, but feminists pertained more to the immediate conversation.
#495 to #467 - anonymous (08/08/2012) [-]
Anon, I know, **** me and all that.
But I just wanted to jump in and ask whether, when people refer to feminists, they're referring to what the original idea of feminism is, or what it has mutated to be in the eyes of modern society/the media.

It was certainly the case that Feminism was all about equality to begin with, and the VAST MAJORITY of feminists still think that way. Though the vast majority of feminists wouldn't call themselves as such, as the term has come to refer to something so fringe and stupid that it beggars belief.
User avatar #502 to #495 - lightningunicorn (08/08/2012) [-]
I used to think of Feminism as the pursuit from the female side of the genders for gender equality.

But now I know that's not what it is anymore (mostly because of extremists, who have made people view the matter differently. Kind of seems to happen a lot to a lot of things, nowadays...), and so I think of it as what it's turned into, which is women seeking to make themselves superior to men. So, as you've already basically said, I don't identify as a feminist. I Identify as someone who seeks gender equality.
#512 to #502 - anonymous (08/08/2012) [-]
To re-iterate I think it's really strange that the term's meaning could change so utterly despite its massive history. Because of this there isn't really a word for people who want gender equality anymore, meaning people who do lack that idea of a common cause. Which would explain a lot about modern society...

I don't know if anyone's to blame per se. but I think a lot of the responsibility does fall in the hands of the media, since it's often the case that they are the ones publishing the shocking extremist view rather than the view that is most common.
User avatar #519 to #512 - lightningunicorn (08/08/2012) [-]
It would indeed. Most people nowadays would rather complain in silence, or on the internet anonymously, rather than do something, which makes me think that's one reason why there isn't a word for someone who supports gender equality.

The media does tend to **** things up, but then, that's how they get viewers and money. By being the most interesting and full of hype. And what makes hype? Extremist views and demonstrations.

And apparently celebrities.

Which I do not understand. At all. They're just people who get paid to LARP or sing.
#526 to #519 - anonymous (08/08/2012) [-]
Well at least complaining anonymously is almost harmless, but yes I agree. (After it's exactly what I'm doing.)

I think it's a sorry state of affairs if the media cares more about a quick buck than the rights of fellow humans. Though by referencing the media what I'm really referencing is a long chain of people in a massive bureaucracy where no-one is personally responsible... Also what happened to honour in journalism?

Yeah I don't really get the whole celebrity thing, I guess it's just a great big mix of idolisation and escapism. If your life is less than perfect (which, of course, it is) you can escape from it all and revel in the lives of those who have it so easy.

Also thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's nice to talk. I'm honestly really surprised someone else hasn't come in with "LOL BUTTS" yet.

As a group, I dislike them.
On individual levels, some can be alright, though you're the only in this thread who falls into that division.

The fandom itself is mostly a security blanket for its many socially inept and autistic members. It gives them a sense of belonging where they would otherwise have none. That's not how 'all' bronies are, but a vast majority of those I've dealt with.

You know, whenever an anonymous person says something agreeable, the only people who even bring up his anonymity do so to say "anon is pretty cool this time."
When they say something disagreeable however, it's almost an instantaneous reaction to tell them that their anonymity cancels out what they have to say, or that they are only anonymous to hide from something.
