If any other country makes a joke of self glorification, it's a joke that everyone laughs along with except for the 5 americans who get thumbed down to oblivion. If the US makes a joke of self glorification, it's proof of how america is retarded and everyone who disagrees is considered more worldly. Inb4 only 'murrica posts make front page, because 'murrica glorification jokes make front page less than dutch glorification or US hate posts.

Yes, because for the Olympics everyday people from the countries are totally selected. If you use that logic, there are no fat people at all. America has extremes, the very fat and the very fit.

The United states has a population of around 300 million, so naturally there would be certain individuals that would be extremely good at something such as swimming or track. So along with it's high population it would have some kind of correlation to the number of gold medals the United States receives.

(don't get butt hurt I am also an american just pointing out a possibility)

For your sake I hope you are just stupid and not trolling.
You see, I am only going off of 10th grade knowledge here and I might be wrong but, you commenting on my comment saying "you're wrong, stfu moron think a little bit next time."
suggests that your are going off of 4th grade knowledge since you did not leave any evidence suggesting i am wrong so for your sake keep your unintelligent, unsupported
comments to yourself and don't come back unless you have the evidence to prove me wrong

The US won most of it's olympic medals during the Cold War against arrch-rival USSR who had around the same population as us. Arguing that the US sends more people to the olympics is a false argument.
Countries with vastly smaller populations still have a decent amount of medals compared to countries with larger populations. Australia has about 20 million people and still out does Russia who has 150 million. The point is that you still have to qualify and win. The US winning those medals is based off of hard work and determination.
Yes more people compete in the olympics but the other first world countries send a good amount.
Norway has a population of 5 million and yet has more winter olympic medals than any other country. How is that? Better trained in their sports.

Better training, and more importantly MORE FUNDING!

While there is a correlation with population, there is a direct link with funding of its athletes. The USA spends much more on its athletes than the rest of the world as well. And good for them, I wish my country showed the same dedication to its athletes.

The USA has the third largest population on the planet, behind only China and India.

Now India is only a developing country and does not spend money on developing athletes for the Olympic games.

China on the other hand has only been truly developing athletes for about 15-20 years, and are currently tied with the USA for most medals. China should also surpass the US in the medal standings by the end of the games.

it's true like I said in my comment if you lok at the current medal ranking there's a correlation between the size of the country and the amount of medals won

the only reason you have so many medals is because you have a larger population

if I get 11 million people what's the chances that 1 will be a gold medal winner?

now what if I take 5 million will the probability be the same?

look at the leader board for medals you'll see it's ruled by the biggest countries USA china Russia

Maybe... just maybe...
...you guys are getting lots of metals not because you're all very healthy, but because you can afford to enter in a ********* more athletes than most of the other countries.

I dont understand your logic. olympians dont even make up half a percent of the USA's population. our country is filled with fat and lazy people like myself, but also has the sporty lean types that are good at sports.

First of all obviously out of the 310 million people across the united states you can come up with a handful of athletes I mean we have the third largest population in the world. Second, a lot of the athletes are african american meaning not even representing the majority or even originally in this country. Third, i feel sorry for you posting this because you are probably overweight and under average in everything else
