It's 14, count the 1 there are 16 of them -1 are 15 and 1x0 is 0 you still have 14 left.

So could someone show the correct way to solve this then? Because I trust my PC calculator more than people on the net. It still shows 0.

Type in how it would look to get 13.

You always do the multiplication first, that's where almost everyone gets it wrong. Since the calculator you are using adds and subtracts all the 1's before the multiplication in the end, you get the wrong answer.

PEMDAS (parentheses, exponent, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction) states that one must multiply before doing any of the additions/subtractions.
So you multiply 0x1 then add 13 instead of adding up the 1s then multiplying 14x0.

But then you change the math question, Although never heard of taking the multiplication first. Would make a lot of the math questions I had in my book wrong question if this one was used on every single math question.

No. You sound just as stupid as the people on Facebook. It's not hard at all. I even laid it out for you, and yet your sheer stupidity continues to blind you from the truth.

your calculator often does not take in to account order of operations

it is 0 because like they said and you learn in maths anything times 0 is 0 and even if the 0 wasnt involved the answer would be 14

You always do the multiplying part of the equation before the plus and minus parts. So first you multiply 1 with 0 (1x0) wich makes 0, multiplying is over now, so now we'll add the rest to eachother, wich makes 13.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying it for me

but there is no brackets jesus christ the -19 thumbs even funny junk is retarded i am so sorry that i can use maths -.-

It's 13... The thing that threw me off was the one -1 there that was hard to see.
#554 to #5 - N. Korean citizen (07/29/2012) [-]
How does that -1 even effect the problem.

Holy fuck. Are you guys retarded. DO this problem in a calculator. You all are stupid as fuck.
#584 to #554 - N. Korean citizen (07/29/2012) [-]
Thumb me down. Just go fucking ask your math teacher and prepare for the ultimate butthurt.

The -1 doesn't make it a bilinear equation retards. You can't force it to be that, good try though.

- A math teacher.

I didn't even notice there was a minus there o_0

I only assumed it was 13 because it most definitely ain't zero.

it's not even a times after you leave third grade x is a know variable we began using a dot for multiplication so x is a hidden variable that must be discovered before this problem can be solved no one should like or share because both answers are most likely wrong 0-0-or we could all go get high
#948 to #943 - ladygirl (07/29/2012) [-]
And if you don't believe me still because my TI-84 doesn't show the whole thing. Just fucking google it.
User avatar #960 to #948 - trilobyte (07/29/2012) [-]
google is always right!
#292 to #111 - biggayass (07/29/2012) [-]
Even if you assume x is a variable and its being multiplied by 1 and 0 (which is just completely wrong notation btw) its still 0 which makes the solution 13 anyway so what I'm simply trying to say is fuck you.

Anyone still not sure besides me?
#3 - caiadaa (07/28/2012) [-]
How the hell can that last person mention pemdas and still get it wrong? -_-

Because he was joking, dumbass.
User avatar #643 to #3 - pokemonstheshiz (07/29/2012) [-]
they don't know what it stands for or how to use it, they just remember it has something to do with math
#2 - N. Korean citizen (07/28/2012) [-]
It is 13 right?
#1 - N. Korean citizen (07/28/2012) [-]
Question is not a WFF and as such is ambiguous. Any of these answers could be correct.
