WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE!?!?!
STOP CALLING ME!!!!
WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE!?!?!
STOP CALLING ME!!!!
Volcanoes don't really work like that, you can say an earthquake is overdue because they are caused by
tectonic plates grinding against each other then slipping so we can assume after a certain amount
of tectonic movement an earthquake is imminent.
Volcanoes however erupt because of pressure built up underground in reservoirs of molten rock.
How much pressure and how fast it accumulates varies wildly even from hour to hour.
Volcanoes are wholly unpredictable. The only time you know a volcano is going to blow is
the days preceding the eruption surrounding areas begin to steam and bulge as magma pushes its way to the surface.
now just because its a super volcano doesn't mean it's going to have an ultra-eruption.
Yellowstone used to be a glacier, because of that most of the hard rock layer above the
volcano has be stripped away. Depending on how many vents the volcano pushes up (essentially mini-volcano's attached to the same reservoir)
It's possible the volcano could simply turn into whats called an "oozer" an active volcano that constantly pushes magma to the surface
basically a hot spring except instead of hot water its molten rock.
Super volcano's have the possibility to be horrendous occurrences but they are not guaranteed to
be super eruptions. The current volcano is actually there because of a "hot spot" in the mantle which is just a fume of liquid rock that rises from the core. (the mantle isn't liquid btw"
this hotspot is stationary under the crust, so as the crust moves over it the volcano's location gradually moves as well.
the current Yellowstone super volcano has actually had like 8 eruptions across the united states, only half could be classified as super eruptions.
and considering the relatively low amount of Geo-thermal activity in the region (compared to active hotspots elsewhere in the world)
I'm really not all that worried about Yellowstone fucking everybody up.
